Shuangtaizi Township used to belong to Kaiyuan County; at the end of 1983, it was changed to Shuangtaizi township. By the end of 2018, 17566 people registered residence in Shuangtaizi. As of June 2020, Shuangtaizi township has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages, and the Township People's government is stationed in Shuangtaizi village.

History of construction
Shuangtaizi Township used to belong to Kaiyuan county.
Qing Guangxu 32 years (1906), under the Faku Zhili hall, is the west road patrol division (resident yemaotai).
The second year of Xuantong (1910) of the Qing Dynasty, the implementation of local autonomy, is fakuting Xiyi township (township autonomous association resident Shuangtaizi).
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the Faku was abolished and the county was established.
In 1923, the system of district and village was implemented, belonging to fakudi system, Shuangtaizi township.
In September 1958, Dongfeng commune was established in three townships of Shuangtaizi, wutaizi and sijiazi.
