Xiadian town

Xiadian town is located 10 kilometers southwest of Xiangyuan county. It has 57 administrative villages and 185 natural villages, with a permanent resident population of 20036 (in 2017), with a total area of 143.82 square kilometers, including 97770 mu of cultivated land. Taijiao railway, No.208 national highway and Taichang Expressway run through the whole county with advantageous geographical location. It is one of the major coal producing towns in the county with rich mineral resources, large coal reserves and high quality.

Historical evolution

During the period of the Republic of China, it was governed by three districts. In September 1945, it was the seventh district government of the county. In 1954, it was the town government, in 1956, it was the township government, in 1958-1983, it was the commune government, and in 1984, it was changed to the town government. On April 20, 2000, it was formed by the merger of Xiadian Town, jiuzhuang Township and Nanhan township. It has jurisdiction over 57 administrative villages and 185 natural villages.
