Taiping Town

Taiping Town, subordinate to Zhao'an County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is located in the Midwest of Zhao'an county. It is adjacent to Hongxing Township in the East, Raoping in Guangdong Province in the west, Jianshe Township in the South and Xiage town in the north, 25 kilometers away from the county. In 2017, the area was 148.78 square kilometers, with 49415 permanent residents.

By 2019, Taiping town has 19 administrative villages.

In 2017, Taiping town had 115 enterprises with 1950 employees, including 30 industrial enterprises and 9 large-scale enterprises.

Evolution of organizational system

Ming Dynasty belongs to the eighth, eleventh and twelfth map of the second capital.

In the early Qing Dynasty, the Ming system was still followed.

In the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Taiping District, the second capital of China, and was under the protection of Meilin, longdun, Dabu, Shangjing, Xinying, Dapu, Maliao, etc.

After the revolution of 1911, it belonged to Taiping District.

In 1920, it belonged to the Fifth District.

In 1940, it belonged to Taiping Township, the third district.

In 1945, it was a part of Jingxi Township and Pingge township.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the Fifth District, and was divided into Yuanzhong, Xinying, Baiye, Kexia, Maliao and other villages from Pingge township.

In 1952, it was called the seventh district.

In 1955, it was renamed Taiping District.

In 1959, it was also called United People's commune.

In 1961, it was designated as Taiping District, with jurisdiction over Taiping, Dabu and Jinxi people's communes.

In 1971, it was called Taiping People's commune.

In 1984, it was transformed into Taiping Township.

In 1992, it was changed into a town.

Honorary title

On September 24, 2019, Taiping Town (Qingmei) was selected into the list of the ninth batch of national "one village, one product" demonstration villages and towns.

In November 2020, it will be selected into the list of towns with rural characteristic industries worth one billion yuan in 2020.
