Chengguan Town, Gucheng County, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province is located in the northwest of Hubei Province and the northeast of Gucheng County. It is the seat of Gucheng County and the political, economic and cultural center of Gucheng County. Chengguan town administrative area of 184.1 square kilometers, registered residence population of 169299 people (2013), jurisdiction 28 communities, 17 administrative villages.
Chengguan town of Gucheng County is located on the southwest Bank of the middle reaches of the Han River. It is a semi plain hilly land with high terrain in the West and low terrain in the East, with an average altitude of 87 meters. It belongs to the north subtropical monsoon climate. Han River, South River and North River flow through the territory. Mineral resources include quartz, limestone, gypsum, porcelain clay, refractory stone, talc powder, sand gold, etc.
Chengguan town is mainly planted with wheat, corn, rice and other food crops, and its industries are mainly textile and clothing, building materials, agricultural products processing, auto parts and other categories. Evolution of organizational system
Ming Hongwu two years (1369), Gucheng County was moved to this site, the calendar for the county. the first year of the Republic of China (1912), known as Chengxiang District, later renamed the first district. In 1931, it was divided into four towns: Shoushan (Chengnei), Nanguan (Shuncheng Street), Xiguan and fenbin (Laojie). In 1936, it was divided into six towns: Shoushan, Ersheng, Sanmin, Si'an, Wuquan and liude. In 1939, six towns were merged into Chengxiang town. In 1946, Chengxiang town was renamed GuBo town. In July 1948, Gucheng was liberated and the first district was set up in the territory. The district government was stationed in Chengguan and governed some areas of Chengguan town and Lengji town. In March 1950, Chengguan town was established and Beihe district was divided into the first district. In June 1954, the first district was renamed Beihe District, and the District People's government was changed into the district office, which is the agency of the county people's government. From July to October 1956, Beihe district was abolished, and Huangkang Township, hugang Township, Sanchalu Township and Baiguoshu Township were set up in the area; Chengguan Town remained unchanged. In September 1958, Beihe people's commune was established by withdrawing the township and establishing the commune; the organizational system of Chengguan Town remained unchanged. In 1960, Chengguan town was abolished and Chengguan people's commune was established. In 1961, the people's commune of Chengguan was abolished and restored to Chengguan town; the people's commune of Beihe was abolished and restored to Beihe district. in August 1975, Gucheng County withdrew the district and merged the commune, abolished Beihe district and established Beihe people's commune; the organizational system of Chengguan Town remained unchanged. In March 1984, Chengguan town changed its name to Gucheng town; in October, Beihe district was reestablished, and Gucheng town's organizational system remained unchanged. In September 1987, Gucheng was renamed Chengguan town; Beihe district was abolished and Beihe town was established. in March 2001, Beihe town was abolished and its administrative area was transferred to Chengguan town.

From 1951 to 1955, Chengguan Town governed six streets and Beihe district (the first district) 19 townships. Streets and townships are administrative units at the township level, with street governments and township governments. In January 1956, small townships were merged, and Beihe District governed eight townships. In September 1958, when Beihe people's commune was founded, it was divided into four management areas, Houhu, Huangkang, sancharu and guoshankou, with 42 production teams under its jurisdiction. In 1961, Chengguan town had one production team and eight production teams; Beihe district had four communes, 42 production teams and 314 production teams. In 1981, guoshankou town was established, belonging to Beihe people's commune. after the "separation of government and society" in October 1984, Gucheng town had jurisdiction over two townships (daguqiao Township and Huangkang township), and Beihe district had jurisdiction over two townships and two towns (Houhu Township, pengjiashan Township, Sanchalu town and guoshankou town). In July 1985, Gucheng County made some adjustments to its administrative divisions. After the adjustment, Gucheng town has jurisdiction over 2 townships, 17 administrative villages and 7 streets (communities); Beihe district has jurisdiction over 3 townships and 23 administrative villages. in September 1987, Gucheng town was renamed Chengguan Town, and its original small township was abolished; Beihe district was abolished, and Beihe town was established, and its original small township was abolished. in March 2001, after Beihe town was merged into Chengguan Town, Chengguan Town governed 12 communities and 38 administrative villages. From 2002 to 2004, Chengguan Town governed 11 communities and 28 administrative villages. In 2005, the administrative division of Chengguan town was adjusted to 11 communities and 31 administrative villages. in 2006, eight administrative villages and one community were designated to be managed by the newly established Gucheng economic development zone. In 2007, Chengguan Town actually controlled 11 communities and 22 administrative villages, and Gucheng Economic Development Zone managed 1 community and 9 administrative villages. In 2008, taipingfang village was abolished and dongshengjie community was established; xiaojiaying village, hujiajing village, guodihu village, Sanchalu village, niejiatan village, Bailonggang village and mojiahe village were changed into communities. Chengguan Town actually administers 13 communities and 20 administrative villages, and Gucheng Economic Development Zone administers 7 communities and 3 administrative villages. in 2010, Hongsheng village, boguoshu village, zengjiaying village, wujiaying village, zhaojiakang village, qiujialou village and hongshiliang village were transformed into communities. Chengguan Town actually administers 20 communities and 13 administrative villages, and Gucheng Economic Development Zone administers 7 communities and 3 administrative villages. In 2011, Baojiawan village of Shihua town was transferred to Chengguan town and managed by Gucheng economic development zone; sujiapan village and jiangjiachong village of Chengguan town were transferred to Gucheng economic development zone; six resident groups were transferred from Dongsheng community and Fanshui community was established. Chengguan Town actually administers 21 communities and 11 administrative villages, and Gucheng Economic Development Zone administers 7 communities and 6 administrative villages. It has not changed until 2013.

Chengguan town is located in the middle part of the northeast of Gucheng County, on the southwest Bank of the middle reaches of the Han River. It faces Xianrendu town of Laohekou City across the river in the East, miaotan town in the south, Shengkang town in the West and Shihua town and Lengji town in the north. Chengguan town is a semi plain and hilly area, with hilly areas in the southwest and alluvial plains in the northeast. It is high in the West and low in the East, with a wide fan shape, with an average altitude of 87 meters. Laojunshan, the highest peak in the south of the territory, is 358.9 meters above sea level, and the lowest is geleizui village, 75.7 meters above sea level. The main mountains in the territory are Laojunshan, shanglaojunshan, fujialing, fengshuiwan, Gushan, Hongshiyan, guoshankou, egg bag, Sizu Miaotai, houeryan, etc. The main valleys in the territory are dachongnao, jishangou, tianxinggou, Liujiagou, maozigou, etc. three kilometers to the east of the county, it is located in the east of huangjiagou to the side of Hanjiang River.
