Chagan tunge Township, a township under the jurisdiction of Wenquan County, Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the northeast of Wenquan County, bordering on haribuhu town in the East, facing tasiu Township and bogdar town with Bortala River in the south, zalmut Township in the west, and Kazakhstan with alatao mountain in the north. The administrative area is 918 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, 7606 households had registered residence in chagun village.
In 1958, Shengli commune was established. In 1959, it was renamed as Mengjin commune. In 1978, it was renamed Chagan tunge commune. In October 1984, Chagan tunge township was established. As of October 2019, Chagan tunge township has jurisdiction over 12 administrative villages.
