Gaofeng town

Gaofeng township is located in the east of Jingyan County, 22 kilometers away from the county. The township governs 21 villages, 162 villager groups, 1 neighborhood committee and 1 neighborhood group, with a total population of 7973 (2017).

On December 13, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Leshan City to adjust the administrative divisions of 8 counties (cities, districts) including Shizhong District (cfzm [2019] No. 20): Gaofeng township was abolished and Gaofeng town was established. The administrative area of Gaofeng town was the original administrative area of Gaofeng Township, and the people's Government of Gaofeng town was located at No. 165, Gaofeng street.

geographical position

It is 20 kilometers east of the county. It is located at 104 ° 31 ′ E and 29 ° 31 ′ n with an altitude of 400 meters and an area of 33.16 square kilometers. The Northeast borders SONGFENG township of Renshou County, and the southeast borders Shuanggu and Yujia township of Rong County.

Historical change

In ancient times, there was a statue of Avalokitesvara on the rocks at the junction with Renshou, which was covered with a shed and named Guanyintang. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Ditang (Yidi) was set up, known as "guanyintangchang", from Ditang county to the second shop of Zizhou. The coal of benevolence and glory was distributed here and became a market. Before liberation, it was named Guanyin Township. In 1952, it was designated as Gaofeng and Longchi townships. In 1955, Gaofeng Township, Longchi Township and Xinxing Township were merged into Gaofeng township. It was incorporated into Yanjing commune in 1958. In 1961, Xinxing township was set aside and Gaofeng commune was restored. In 1983, Gaofeng township was restored. In 1992, Xinxing township was incorporated. in December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish Gaofeng Township and establish Gaofeng town.
