Litchi street was named after litchi garden in Tang Dynasty.
In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to the state of Fuli in Guoli.
In the Qing Dynasty, it was the first one in the long beach of Fuzhou; in the late Qing Dynasty, most of the territory belonged to Chengxiang District.
In 1931, it belonged to Longzhi, Jingqian and Zili.
In August 1955, Longzhi township was renamed litchi township.
In February 1986, Lichi street was set up in Lichi township.
