The origin of history
In Yanjia, the Buyi Nationality is "ngaamzjas (angjia)". The Buyi language "ngaamz (ANG)" is Yakou, "JAS (JIA)" refers to the place where the river and river water have washed away, "ngaamzjas (ang Jia)" means Yakou which is often washed away by the river and river water.
There is a mountain in angjia, which slopes from north to south to the Bank of Beipan River. To the East is Beipan River, and to the southwest is the entrance of zheluo river. A peninsula is formed at the angle between river and river. At the north end of the peninsula is a Yakou, and at the south end is a small hillside. Every summer in the flood season, the river surges, often over Yakou, Yakou is often washed by the river. During the flood season, small wooden boats can pass through Yakou, so people call it "angjia". "Ang" in Buyi is similar to "Yan" in Chinese, but it is changed to "Yanjia".
A long time ago, a Wei family lived in angjia, cultivated many grain fields and took charge of the ferry. The surname Wei is very hardworking and gets rich step by step. Later, after the Wei family and the Wang family became relatives, they saw that the Wang family was in trouble, so they handed over the ferry to the Wang family. On the eve of the Lunar New Year's Eve, Guangxi bandits passed by angjia along the north of the Yangtze River. The Wei family was burned, killed and robbed by Guangxi bandits. Only a pregnant woman in the family returned to her mother's home for the new year's Eve did she survive. The pregnant woman then gave birth to a son, and the fragrance of the Wei family continued.
After liberation, the local government managed the rivers and built embankments. In the flood season, the river never crossed Yakou again. After that, shipping stations, supply and marketing cooperatives and grain stations were built one after another, and market trade began to flourish. After the district was withdrawn and the township was built in 1991, the original Huarong township was changed into "Yanjia town" in March 1998 with the approval of Guizhou Provincial People's government. On May 2 of the same year, the town government moved from Huarong to Yanjia. On October 30, 2006, the Longtan Hydropower Station was completed, and the water level rose when the gate was lowered to store water. After all treatment, the government seat of Yanjia Town, its subordinate organs, enterprises and institutions, and street residents moved to bannongzhai. (excerpt from Ceheng Buyi place name culture)
