Chaoyang District
Chaoyang District, one of the municipal districts of Changchun City, Jilin Province, is located in the central and southern part of Changchun City. It is the center of science, technology, culture and Commerce of Changchun City.
By August 2020, Chaoyang District has 9 streets and 52 communities in Chongqing, Yongchang, Qinghe, Guilin, South Railway Station, Nanhu, Hongqi, Huxi and Fufeng, 2 towns and 24 villages in Yongchun and Leshan, and a provincial Development Zone, Changchun Chaoyang economic development zone. Chaoyang District has an area of 237 square kilometers (of which 37.78 square kilometers are built), with a population of 602 thousand and 800 people (registered residence population in 2019), and its gross domestic product reaches 69 billion 930 million yuan (2019).
In December 2018, Chaoyang District was recognized by the Ministry of civil affairs as the third batch of national community governance and service innovation experimental areas.
Historical evolution
The establishment and development of Chaoyang District began in the 1930s. In 1931, after Japan occupied Northeast China, the puppet "Manchukuo" was established, with its capital in Changchun. Chaoyang District is the political and cultural center and key development and construction area of the puppet "Manchukuo". Eight ministries of the puppet "Manchukuo", including the State Council and the Ministry of justice, were built here, which is the central area ruled by the puppet "Manchukuo". After the restoration in 1945, Zhonghua district and Anmin district were set up here. After the liberation of Changchun in 1948, Zhonghua district and Anmin district under the rule of the Kuomintang were merged and renamed as Zhonghua district. Chaoyang District has been officially named since 1955.

Regionalization changes
On December 3, 1999, Chaoyang District abolished KUANPING street and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of Huxi street; abolished Jianshe street and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of Hongqi Street; abolished Baiju street and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of Qinghe street.
In 2000, Chaoyang District governed eight streets, three towns and one township.
On November 18, 2002, Wanshun village and Laluo village of Fufeng Town, Chaoyang District were entrusted to the Management Committee of Changchun high tech Industrial Development Zone. Wanshun village covers an area of 11.69 square kilometers, and Laluo village covers an area of 7.74 square kilometers. According to the natural boundary of the original jurisdiction, the whole construction system of the two villages will be transferred. After the Management Committee of the high tech Zone takes over, to maintain the complete construction system of the two villages, it can temporarily entrust the social development bureau to directly manage the two villages respectively.
In 2003, Chaoyang District had jurisdiction over Nanhu street, Hongqi Street, Mengjia street, Yongchang street, Huxi street, Chongqing Street, Guilin street, Qinghe street, Yongchun Town, Fufeng Town, Leshan town and Shuangde township.
In 2004, Chaoyang District governed Huxi street, Chongqing Street, Hongqi Street, Qinghe street, Yongchang street, Nanhu street, Guilin street, Nanzhan street, Fufeng Town, Yongchun Town, Leshan town and Shuangde township.
In 2006, Fufeng village and Qiancheng village in Fufeng town of Chaoyang District were put under the management of the automobile industry development zone.
In 2006, Fufeng town was abolished and Fufeng street was established.

There are 12 soil types, 38 soil subclasses, 64 soil genera and 190 soil species in Chaoyang District of Changchun, and their formation and distribution are transitional. Affected by the terrain differentiation, the soil series in the zone are different. In the dark brown soil zone, there are low mountain and hilly dark brown soil, platform white serous water, valley meadow soil and depression swamp soil series; in the black soil zone, there are platform black soil, river terrace meadow soil and lowland swamp soil series; in the black calcium soil zone, there are terrace plain chernozem, valley terrace meadow soil and saline alkali soil series. Many soil types are formed, such as black soil, meadow soil, chernozem and dark brown soil.

The area of forest land is lower than the average level of Jilin Province and China.
