Maning town is located in the northwest of HUAIJI County, adjacent to Lengkeng town in the East, Lanzhong town in the north, Gangping town in the West and Liangcun town in the south. It is 29 kilometers away from the county and only 5 kilometers away from the shuigu line of the provincial road. The total area of the town is 58 square kilometers, with 1413.33 hectares of cultivated land and 0.69 mu of cultivated land per capita. It has 16 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee and 82 economic cooperatives. In 2019, the total population of the town will be 94000.

Evolution of organizational system

During the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty, it was called Ma Ying, the place where horses were tied.

The Qing Dynasty changed Ma Ning.

It was changed to Manning in 1920.

In 1950, it was the seventh district of HUAIJI County.

In 1956, Lengkeng town took charge of maning area, and HUAIJI "lengma district" was established.

In 1958, maning was formally incorporated into Lengkeng and was under the jurisdiction of Lengkeng area, and was renamed "people's commune of Lengkeng area".

After the administrative adjustment of HUAIJI County in 1972, the "lengma people's commune" was restructured to establish "maning people's commune" and "Lengkeng people's commune" respectively.

In 1983, maning people's commune was changed into maning district.

In 1986, maning district was removed from the district and built into a town.
