essential information
Liuxiang town is rich in natural resources, outstanding people, shady trees and willows, fertile land, rich products and convenient land and water transportation. The territory has a vast plain, rich in high-quality wheat, soybeans, there is an endless reed marsh, East and West stream water surface culture fish, fat water beauty. Reed weaving, willow weaving and Angora rabbit are the three major industries in the world. Huaihe River specialty "huaiwang fish" is well-known at home and abroad. The eight sceneries of Fushan (Xianren cave, Diaoyutai, Lianhua pool, xianniujiao, split horse seam, Yinma pool, Fengbo Pavilion, Yingshui Temple) are fascinating and need to be further developed. The fushanyan site in the northern and Southern Dynasties was declared as a key cultural relic of the province for protection. Liuxiang is a place name on the Bank of the Huaihe River, which is divided into daliuxiang and xiaoliuxiang. Daliuxiang is located on the North Bank of the Huaihe River and belongs to Sihong County in Jiangsu Province, which is called Sihe township; xiaoliuxiang is located on the South Bank of the Huaihe River and belongs to Mingguang City in Anhui Province, which is called Liuxiang town.
Historical evolution
There is a historical site in Liuxiang town of Mingguang City, fushanyan site, which is located on Fushan gorge, one of the Three Gorges of Huaihe River. Fushan weir in ancient times was a military facility. It was a dam built on the Huaihe River during the northern and Southern Dynasties. It was the first large dam used for military water attack in the history of the Huaihe River and the highest earth rock dam in the world at that time. In the 13th year of Liang Tianjian (514), in order to recapture Shouyang (now Shouxian County, Anhui Province) occupied by the Northern Wei Dynasty, Liang Wudi Xiao Yan sent Kang Xuan to build a dam in Fushan to flood Shouyang city and force the Wei army to retreat in order to recover Shouyang city. According to historical records, the first river blocking project on the Huaihe River involved 200000 soldiers and civilians. From Fushan in the south to chanshi in the North (now Tonghe mountain in Sihong County), the distance is 1600 meters. Fill earthwork from both ends and prepare to close in the middle. As the project site is located in the lower reaches of Huaihe River, the current is turbulent and difficult, so Fushan weir took two years to complete. The water conservancy project posed a serious threat to the Wei army. Soon after the impoundment, Shouyang city was besieged by water, and the Wei army was forced to abandon the city and go up the mountain. After the construction of Fushan weir, the Huaihe River was cut off. There was a vast ocean within hundreds of miles of the upstream, and the water level was still rising, almost equal to the crest of the weir. There was a danger of Breakwater at any time, and the security of the downstream area was seriously threatened. Although there was a project to replace soldiers with water, Liang Jun, on the one hand, dealt with the harassment of Wei Jun, on the other hand, tried to prevent flood and protect the safety of Fushan weir, and had to divert the water from the upper reaches of Huaihe River. So Liang Jun took advantage of Wei Jun's fear of submergence and publicized to Wei Jun that Liang Jun was not afraid of fighting, but was afraid of someone spilling the water. As expected, the Wei army fell into the trap and began to dig mountains to release water, so fushanyan reservoir had two spillways. One of them is in front of Tahe village, Fengshan Township, Sihong County. It is said that ruins can be seen in the early days of liberation. These two spillways are the earliest records in the history of reservoir construction in China. Although the flood is diverted, Fushan weir is still doomed. In the process of building Fushan weir, Liang Dynasty paid a huge price. They recruited civilian workers from Xu and Yang prefectures, one in every four households; wasted tens of millions of Jin of iron; cut down a large number of trees to make wooden cages and fill the river with soil; and killed countless people in construction. The typical feature of Fushan weir is that it starts with attacking the enemy and ends with harming itself. Because of its great influence, the record is the most detailed, which provides favorable conditions for later generations to understand the situation at that time. The scale of Fushan weir project was unparalleled in the world at that time. It is estimated that the main dam is 30-40 meters high and the water area formed is estimated to be more than 6700 square kilometers. The total water storage is 10 billion cubic meters. The main and auxiliary dam fill of Fushan weir is about 2 million cubic meters. These indicators ranked first in the world at that time. Dam height is often the most direct expression of the technical level of water conservancy projects. The height of earth rock dam in foreign countries only exceeded 30 meters in the 12th century, more than 600 years later than Fushan weir. The completion of Fushan weir also highlights the amazing strength and spirit of the ancient Chinese people. Limited by the historical conditions and people's deep understanding of nature at that time, Fushan weir only existed for four months and was ruthlessly washed down by the flood. However, it left an indelible page in the history of World Water Conservancy and has long-term reference significance.
Stories and legends
It is said that the origin of Daliu lane and Xiaoliu Lane originated from the Fushan weir project, a world precedent. There is a legend here. Liang Wudi began to send two generals, Zuheng, a timber officer, and Chen Chengbo, a water officer, to take charge of the project. After receiving orders, Zu and Chen went to Fushan gorge to inspect the terrain on the spot. They agreed that the water surface of the Huaihe River here was narrow, and the Huaihe River was drifting fast and turbulent, and the sand along the bank was loose, so it was difficult to build a weir. It was a waste of money and labor to build a strong weir. The project was closed for no time, and there was no hope of success. Therefore, they urged Xiao Yan to give up the dam construction plan and seek other strategies. On hearing this, Xiao Yan, Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty, said angrily, "dripping water can make soil moisture, and shoveling soil can make mountains. Since ancient times, there have been soldiers to block water and earth weirs. There is no reason why dams can not be built. It is clear that the two of them have different ideas and want to do something bad for me." In order to show his determination to build the dam and prevent any further objections, Xiao Yan ordered the left and right guards to tie up Zu and Chen and behead them. After killing the two generals, no one dared to raise any objection. Because Xiao Yan was very eager to seize Shouyang, he was determined to go his own way, so his generals had to obey his orders. They recruited more than 150000 people from Xuzhou and Yangzhou, five people from every 20 households, and more than 200000 people with more than 50000 soldiers. Whether it's hot or cold, they are digging dams day and night. With the closing of the dam, the river gets longer and higher, and more fierce. Cages of earth and stone were dumped, and soon they were washed tens of feet away by the turbulent river. The 1600 meter dam was completed in a few months, but the tens meter gap could not be closed for a long time. So someone suggested that a huge pot made of iron should be filled with earth and rock, which would sink into the bottom of the water to block the river. Xiao Yan felt that it was feasible, so he immediately sent someone to mobilize more than 100000 Jin of pig iron, cast it into an iron pot, and soon it was washed down the river. As a result, it was still of no help. The turbulent river was like a beast, surging eastward, uncontrollable and unable to tame. Xiao Yan, Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty, was so anxious that he didn't know what to do. He was restless all day and couldn't eat. Xiao Yan's temper is getting worse and worse. In order to close the cofferdams as soon as possible and realize his military strategy, he often went to the dike to supervise the work in person. One after another, the ministers in charge of the project were killed one after another, and those who were slightly offended were decapitated and thrown into the river, but still failed to work. When it was cold and freezing, thousands of people were tired, unable to eat and sleep well. They died of fatigue, freezing, starvation and death. When they died, they were thrown into the river. Their families and bodies could not be found in the capital. Many parents lost their sons, wives lost their husbands, children lost their fathers, and their families were broken up. at this time, there were two craftsmen on the construction site. They were twin brothers. The elder brother's name was big Liuxiang, and the younger brother's name was small Liuxiang. Looking at them, the pain was in their heart. They felt that it was not a matter for them to go on like this. More property would be wasted on the dam, and more people would die on the project. In order to protect other people, he volunteered to give his life to Xiao Yan, jumped into the closure, nailed into "well" shaped wooden piles, and quickly filled in earth and rock, so as to close the dam and complete the Fushan weir project as soon as possible. Xiao Yan couldn't think of a better way, so he acted as a live horse doctor and took their advice. He immediately sent people to cut down trees and open mountains for quarrying. Everything was ready. Each of Liu's twin brothers jumped into the ferocious river with two long wooden stakes. With a loud sound of "Dong", people saw big Liuxiang and small Liuxiang jump down for a moment, and their bodies suddenly became bigger and smashed down heavily, firmly blocking the gap in the middle of the dam. The water of the Huaihe River, as fierce as a dragon, not only stopped flowing suddenly, but also turned its head to rush back, and four thick wooden piles plunged deep into the mud in the gap of the dam. Many people and soldiers on the bank took advantage of this gap and tried their best to fill the prepared stumps, stones and soil bags into the dam mouth quickly. After a while, the dam closed and blocked the flow of water. Daliuxiang and xiaoliuxiang were also buried in the earth and rock. On April 10, the 15th year of Liang Tianjian (516 AD), the Fushan weir project, which lasted for 18 months, was finally completed. We all think that it was the heroic deeds of the twin brothers, daliuxiang and xiaoliuxiang, that moved the God and stopped the flow of the Huaihe River for a while. Daliuxiang and xiaoliuxiang saved them. If daliuxiang and xiaoliuxiang had not blocked the gap with their lives, many civil servants would have died in the project. In order to express gratitude to daliuxiang and xiaoliuxiang, to show their brothers' righteous deeds, and to let future generations remember the kindness of daliuxiang and xiaoliuxiang, we spontaneously planted many willows along the dam as a permanent memorial, and called a village along the river in Sihong daliuxiang and a village along the river east of Fushan xiaoliuxiang. Later, the place was covered with willows, which became a beautiful scenery. Rows and rows of willow trees are like streets and alleys. Because of the homophony, people call big willow lane and small willow lane as big willow lane and small willow lane. Daliu lane and Xiaoliu lane are constantly developing
