Shangliyuan Township, a township under the jurisdiction of Huachi County, Qingyang City, Gansu Province, is located in the southwest of Huachi County, adjacent to Yuele town in the East, wangzuizi town in the southeast, Maling town in Qingyang County in the southwest, Quzi town in xilianhuan County in the west, and Wujiao Township in the northeast, with a total administrative area of 99.3 square kilometers.
In the Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to Maling County of Beidi County; in November 1983, it was changed to shangliyuan township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population in the upper reaches of the plateau was 6457. In June 2020, shangliyuan township has jurisdiction over six administrative villages.

History of construction
In the Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to Maling county.
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to fuchengli, Anhua County.
In 1936, it belonged to Quzi County of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia Province.
In the 26th year of the Republic of China (1937), it belonged to the four townships of Yuele district (Zhili Liangzi), Huachi County, Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region.
In 1958, it belonged to Yuele commune of Qingyang County.
In 1962, it was shangliyuan commune in Huachi County.
In November 1983, it was changed to shangliyuan township.
