Waitun Township

Waitun township is located in the west of Jiufeng mountains in the middle of Zhenghe County, connecting Chengyuan Township in the East, Xingxi Township in the west, Tieshan town in the north and Zhenqian Township in the south. It has jurisdiction over 9 villages, 1 farm, 105 natural villages and 75 villager groups.

The township has beautiful ecological environment and rich tourism resources. There are national scenic spots, the main scenic spot of Fozi mountain in the national geological principality, Zhenghe apricot, a new species in the plant world, and Hutun corridor bridge, the largest single span wooden arch bridge in China, which is under construction. It is surrounded by Chengyuan, Xingxi, Tieshan Town, lingyao, Zhenqian and other five townships in the county. The whole area is characterized by hilly landform dominated by mountains. The terrain is high in the East and low in the west, with an altitude of 380-1100 meters. It is divided into two types of terrain: high mountain area and semi high mountain area. It has dual climate characteristics, with sufficient sunshine, abundant rainfall and pleasant climate. The annual average temperature is 17.4 ℃ and the annual precipitation is 1850 mm The frost free period is 252 days. Waitun township is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The terrain is high in the East and low in the West. There is a great difference in altitude. It can be divided into two types: semi mountainous area and alpine area. The surface is cut by rivers, forming many deep ravines and cliffs. Fozi mountain is a national scenic spot and geopark. Qixing River originates from Huangkeng village in the East. It is winding and runs through the whole territory.

The economic crops include tea, tobacco and daylily, of which the tea garden covers an area of 3878 mu with an output of 56.1 tons. Fruits mainly include apples, oranges, grapes, pears, etc., with a planting area of 922.5 Mu and an output of 5.3 tons; among them, apples and grapes in houling are famous; apples cover an area of 210 Mu and an output of 1 ton; grapes cover an area of 217.5 mu, accounting for 30% of the county's planting area and 2.3 tons, accounting for 22.4% of the county's total grape output.
