Caiyuan Township
Caiyuan township is an administrative Township, located in the southwest of Suichang, 50 kilometers away from the county seat. It is adjacent to Jiaotan in the East, wangcunkou town in the south, huangshayao in the West and Hushan Township in the north. The township government is located in underground villages, with an altitude of 530 meters. According to statistics at the end of 2004, the total area of the township is 56 square kilometers, including 211 hectares of cultivated land and 5768 hectares of mountain forest. Caiyuan is mainly mountainous with high terrain, mainly planting rice, soybean and other food crops. Grain and pig are the traditional leading industries in Caiyuan township. In recent years, it is cultivating and developing new industries such as tea, bamboo shoot, mountain vegetable malantou, woody medicinal herb Magnolia officinalis, and has begun to take shape. The township governs 9 administrative villages, 44 natural villages and 74 villager groups. By 2004, the total population of the township was 4374, with 1336 households. Historical evolution
In 1381, Suichang was designated as 24 capitals of 4 townships and Caiyuan as 19 capitals of Baoyi township. In May of the third year of Xuantong (1911), local autonomy was implemented. The county was divided into 10 autonomous regions, and Caiyuan township was under the jurisdiction of Baoli district. At the beginning of the Republic of China, the administrative divisions below the county level adopted the old system of the late Qing Dynasty, with 10 districts. In June 1928, the village system was implemented. The county was divided into 10 districts, 9 li and 74 United villages, and Caiyuan was Baoli district. In May of the 28th year of the Republic of China, the township area was adjusted. The county was divided into five districts, five towns, 35 townships, 275 Baojia and 2910 Jiajia. Caiyuan Township and jiaoshilou Township were merged into Caixi Township, which was under the jurisdiction of wangcunkou district. In 1949, the name of Caixi township was used in the beginning of liberation. In 1950, Caixi township was changed into two townships, Caixi and Jiaolou. In 1956, Jiaolou Township and tangkeng village of wangcunkou Township were divided into Caixi township; in September 1958, the district level system was abolished and the people's commune system of "integration of government and society" was implemented. Caixi Township belongs to Caixi management area of Yuejin people's commune. It was called Caixi management area of wangcunkou commune in 1959 and Caixi commune in 1961. In April 1983, Caixi commune was divided into Caiyuan commune and Jiaotan commune; in June, the government commune was divided and Caixi commune was changed into Caiyuan township. In June 1992, Zhejiang province implemented the policy of "withdrawing districts, expanding towns and merging townships". Suichang county set up 20 townships, while Caiyuan Township kept them.
