Shanxiaxiang is located in the southwest of Pucheng County, Fujian Province, 118 ° 21 ′ - 118 ° 34 ′ e, 27 ° 45 ′ - 27 ° 53 ′ n, Linjiang town in the East, Shipi town in the southeast, Wuyishan City in the southwest, Fengxi Township in the West and Yongxing Town in the North. It is 11.8 km wide from east to west and 11.2 km long from north to south.
In 2017, the administrative area was 11043 hectares, with 7734 permanent residents.
Geography
The terrain in the territory is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. There are four peaks over 1000 meters, among which taohuajing is the highest, with an altitude of 1064.7 meters. Seven tributaries converge to form shanxiaxi, which runs through the central part and flows out of the country from west to East, forming a small river valley in the southeast. The former Yangfan is the largest, covering an area of 1582.5 mu. The average altitude is 376m, the annual average temperature is 16.5 ℃, the frost free period is 238 days, and the average annual precipitation is 1255mm. It is a typical subtropical monsoon humid climate with four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall and remarkable three-dimensional climate.
Around the four borders, there are four peaks of 1000 meters, among which taohuajing is the highest (1064.7 meters above sea level). Shanxiaxi runs through the middle of the mountain and inclines to the southeast, forming a small valley basin. The former Yangfan is the largest, covering an area of 1582.5 mu.

history
The history of the territory can be traced back to the Neolithic age. Four cultural sites from the Neolithic period to the Western Zhou Dynasty have been found in Qianyang and Qingshan villages. Song to Qing belong to Ren Feng. During the period of the Republic of China, there were townships. The revolutionary struggle in shanxiaxiang has a long history. In October 1928, the red armed forces of Northern Fujian destroyed the militia department in shanxiaxiang and obtained 10 rifles for the first time. In the 35th year of the Republic of China, the Minbei prefectural committee of the Communist Party of China moved to Tiekeng Pingyang village.
When the government was fully established in October 1950, Shanxia was divided into the Fifth District, with 10 townships under its jurisdiction and Shanxia village as its resident. In September 1956, Shanxia commune was established under the jurisdiction of 10 brigades, 2684 households and 11414 people.
In 1988, the total industrial output value was 2.877 million yuan, and there were 7 industrial enterprises run by townships and 9 by villages. The total output value of agriculture is 3.8777 million yuan, the area of grain cultivated land is 16582 mu, the total output is 6135.87 tons, and 1219.5 tons of commodity grain are provided. The area of vegetable cultivated land is 500 mu, the area of fish breeding is 86 mu, and the number of live pigs is 5151. The forestry land area is 135591 mu, the forest coverage rate is 65.9%, the timber cutting is 1722 m3, and the bamboo cutting is 68800. It is rich in dried bamboo shoots, with an annual output of 133.38 tons, ranking first in all towns. In Shuiyuan Temple of Xiaoxi village, there are 70 water lotus trees, more than 400 years old, which are listed as protected areas. The planting area of fruit is 804.8 mu, among which, bayberry is 181.5 mu, second only to Shipi town.
In 1988, there were two reservoirs with a storage capacity of 100000 cubic meters, and 8556 mu of farmland was reserved for drought and flood. There are 5 power stations in rural areas, with an installed capacity of 290 kW and a rural power consumption of 234700 kwh. Linjiang Shanxia highway was built in 1961. In 1988, there were 12 rural highways, 59.7 km long. In the Republic of China, primary schools were established. Secondary education started in 1970. In 1988, there were 33 primary schools and 1 middle school.

The mountainous area of the township is 152500 mu, with flat terrain, fertile soil and mild climate. It is rich in grain crops such as rice, soybean, corn, job's tears and sweet potato, with a cultivated area of 17500 mu. The forest land covers an area of 99600 mu, with abundant resources of bamboo shoots, bamboo, wood, mushrooms and other forest products.
With an area of 44000 mu, Phyllostachys pubescens is known as the "bamboo town". It provides 120000 pieces of Phyllostachys pubescens annually, 1.5 million kg of fresh shoots and 200000 kg of dried shoots. There are more than ten kinds of mineral resources, such as pyrite, zinc, lead, copper, silver, gold, tungsten, tin, manganese and iron. In recent years, the annual mining volume of pyrite, lead-zinc and ferromanganese has reached more than 50000 tons, and the tungsten and tin deposits are the national second-class prospective mineral areas.
In 2005, according to the data provided by Pucheng Statistics Bureau, the total sown area of crops in the town was 32660 mu, including 22720 mu of grain crops, with a total output of 7497 tons; 1200 mu of oil crops, with a total output of 70 tons; 3300 mu of vegetables, melons and fruits, with a total output of 2524 tons; 727 cubic meters of young forest tending and 9831 cubic meters of total timber in forest production; and the total timber output of animal husbandry In that year, there were 6230 pigs and 66900 poultry; tea picking area was 163 mu, with a total output of 20 tons; garden fruit picking area was 724 mu, with a total output of 154 tons.
