Aoqian town

Aoqian town is located in the southeast of Haitan Island in Pingtan, Fujian Province, adjacent to the Taiwan Strait in the East, 68 nautical miles from Taiwan Island in a straight line, tannanwan in the south, and Tangcheng town in the northwest. Aoqian town has 21 administrative villages and 48 natural villages. It is located in aoqian village, 10 kilometers away from Chengguan.

In 2017, the administrative area was 2897 hectares, with a permanent population of 50680.

On June 29, 2020, it will be included in the list of provincial rural governance demonstration towns.

History and evolution

In 1958, it was established in Tandong township. In the same year, it was renamed Tancheng branch of Pingtan commune. In 1961, it was established in Tandong commune. In 1984, it was changed into a town. In the same year, it was renamed aoqian town. In 1997, it had jurisdiction over 19 village committees, including aoqian, Dongao, Lingqian, Longshan, Guanjiang, Longbei, Yujing, Guangyu, guanglou, Zilan, Shangjing, Longnan, fujiaodi, Qianjin, Dongxing, Zhongjia, Fubao, Dongguang and Nanlai.

In the first year of the Republic of China, there were 45 villages in Gaoping District. To the east of aoqian town is Niushan fishing ground, which is rich in Pseudosciaena crocea, hairtail and swimming crab. It is the largest fishing ground in Fujian Province. Guanyin'ao is a good natural port and an important fishing port in Pingtan County. It has favorable conditions for the development of aquaculture and a 500 ton deep-water wharf.
