In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), Bachu county was put under the jurisdiction of Shache County, and aznai bazarbergerik was established.
In 1950, it was a wasteland management area.
In 1956, it was under the jurisdiction of yuepuhu county and became the second township of tierimu district.
In 1958, it was the 8th and 12th brigade of tieremu commune.
In March 1975, bayawati commune was established.
In 1984, bayawati commune was changed into bayawati township.

Bayawati, Uyghur, means rich and prosperous. Originally called lalema, Uighur, meaning lazy. In 1975, the commune was set up separately and changed its name to bayawati commune at the initiative of the commune Party committee.
Buvimaere Yemu Nimu Mazha is a county-level cultural relic protection unit, located 300 meters north of bazha in bayawati township. It is the graveyard of the daughter of the king of the karahan Dynasty. After the death of Ali alslan Khan in the war with Khotan, buvimaere Yemu fled here and was killed by the chasing Khotan Buddhist soldiers. Mazha is located at the top of a high-lying mound with a diameter of 22 meters and a height of 5 meters. There is a mosque 200 meters southeast of Mazha.
