Evolution of organizational system
It is said that Sunbu Town, originally called wushageng, is a small village with several fishermen living in Yangjiang River. At that time, an old man surnamed sun lived in the south of the village. For the convenience of pedestrians, he opened a shop in his residence. Later, people called this small village "sunjiapu". Because the water depth of the river below sunjiapu is slow, the number of boats and rafts passing by is increasing, and sunjiapu has gradually become a distribution center of bamboo, wood and grain. Merchants also took advantage of boats to bring "foreign oil", "foreign fire", "foreign cloth" and other goods from Shanghai and Nanjing, which promoted sunjiapu to become the wholesale business center of daily necessities and department stores in the east of Xuanzhou. Sunjiapu, which was developed by water transportation, became sunjiabu. In the early Qing Dynasty, sunjiabu was an important military defense area of the county. During the Xianfeng Period, Sunbu was under the jurisdiction of the township. According to the county records in the 14th year of Guangxu, it has been known as Sunbu town. It was renamed Yongning Town in 1932 and Sunbu town in 1946.
At the beginning of the liberation, Sunbu town was under the jurisdiction of the Sixth District, and at the beginning of 1950, it was under the jurisdiction of the thirteenth district. In July 1952, Sunbu town was divided into three townships, namely Guishi, Zhengxing and Changhe. After the autumn of 1955, Sunbu town was divided into five townships directly under the jurisdiction of the county. In October 1958, Sunbu town merged with Shuangqiao, Zhengxing and tonggong townships to form Chaomei (Shuangqiao) people's commune, which has a number of production teams under its jurisdiction. In 1961, the commune system was adjusted, and Chaomei commune was divided into Shuangqiao commune, Sunbu commune and Tong commune. In August 1965, Sunbu town was set up, and Sunbu commune and Sunbu town coexisted. In 1983, Sunbu commune was changed into Sunbu township. In September 1984, Sunbu Township and town were merged and called Sunbu town. In 2001, after the zoning adjustment, the former Jianguo township was designated as Sunbu Town, and the residence was Zhengxing street of Sunbu town. The town covers an area of 114.4 square kilometers, including 53218 mu of cultivated land and 46257 mu of mountain farm, belonging to the Pingfan area of tonggongba irrigation area. The town governs 8 villages, 1 community, 331 villager groups and 51613 people (2017).
