Dongliu Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Dongzhi County in Anhui Province, is located on the South Bank of Wanjiang River, connecting Shengli town in the north and Yaodu town in the south. As of 2017, Dongliu town has a total area of 13057 hectares, 12 administrative villages (including 1 Hui Village) and 3 communities, with a total population of 31689.
In the Han Dynasty, Dongliu belonged to Pengze County and Shicheng County, and in the Jin Dynasty, it belonged to Huangju township of Pengze County. It is named after the "east flow" in Huang Tingjian's poem "the Cangjiang river is full of twists and turns, and it begins to flow eastward". Dongliu town was originally Dongliu county. It was merged with Zhide County in 1959 and was under the jurisdiction of Dongzhi County, Chizhou City. In Jin Dynasty, Tao Yuanming once lived in seclusion in Dongliu art chrysanthemum, leaving behind the famous saying of "picking Chrysanthemum under the East fence, leisurely seeing Nanshan". Many historical relics and intangible cultural heritages, such as Taogong temple, Dongliu Twin Towers (Xiufeng tower, natural tower), Dongliu old street, Dali mountain, Zeng Guofan camp, Yandi temple, Catholic Church, bear the heavy history and culture of Dongliu. In January 2019, Dongliu town of Dongzhi County was selected as the seventh batch of Chinese historical and cultural towns.

Historical evolution
Dongliu county was set up in 953 ad, but the county system was not easier because of historical changes. Chengnei town was built in 1952, Chengguan town was changed in 1953, Chengguan town was abolished in 1958, and Chengdong people's commune was established.
It was divided into Shuangta District in 1961, Dongliu town was established in 1964, merged into Xiangdong commune in 1969, changed to Dongliu commune in 1972, Dongliu town was established in 1978, and promoted to County town in 1985.
When the districts were withdrawn and villages merged, Chang'an and Changling townships were merged into Dongliu town and gradually upgraded to sub County town.
Dongliu town is close to the South Bank of the Yangtze River. It is named after "Dongliu" in the poem "the river twists and turns. When Tao Yuanming was the magistrate of Pengze County in the Jin Dynasty, he planted chrysanthemums in Dongliu, which was called" Jusuo "and" Juyi "in ancient times. Dongliu town is located in the south of Anhui Province, which is under the jurisdiction of Chizhou City Dongzhi County. It is 35 km away from the upstream of Anqing and 121 km away from the downstream of Jiujiang. It is connected with Shengli Town, Yaodu town and Dadukou town respectively. landforms
There are three terraces along the river and lake bank: the first terrace is floodplain terrace with an altitude of 10 meters, and Holocene Sediments are formed by alluvial and lacustrine deposits; the second terrace is 20-30 meters above sea level, and Xiashu clay layer and reticulated laterite are formed by alluvial, slope and alluvial deposits; the third terrace is 40-60 meters above sea level, and gravel layer of Anqing formation is deposited. It is close to the lake hillock, undulating, 40-50 meters above sea level. Around Shengjin Lake, 20-30 meters above sea level, the North Bank of Shengjin Lake and the turning point of the Yangtze River form the latest modern alluvium, which is gray and grayish yellow clay, silt and gravel. On the west side of the river, the river center is formed by alluvial deposits, and the elevation is generally about 10 meters, which is lower than the river surface in flood season.
In addition to the lake hillock, there are also hills in the town, which are composed of Silurian Permian and Mesozoic sandstone, shale and limestone. The altitude is mostly 100-200 meters, or less than 100 meters. There is a small area of alluvial plain between hills and hills, forming polder area and farmland.

The town originally belonged to the ancient Yangtze River waterway, but later the water surface retreated, leaving behind a series of lakes. The largest is Shengjin Lake, which spans Dongzhi County and Guichi County, reaching 298.7 square kilometers (including the Dongzhi section of the Yangtze River). The other 16 lakes, including Qili lake, xiaoqili lake, Taibai lake, Yangma lake, tuanyang lake, Huangni lake and Xieyang lake, are scattered in more than 10 townships from Xiangkou to jiangba.
