MAODENG ranch is located 36 kilometers east of Xilinhot City. It was founded in 1958. In 1991, it was transferred from the former 32nd regiment of the 5th division of Beijing production and Construction Corps to Xilinhot City. In the construction of the science and Technology Park, the existing infrastructure and mechanical equipment of the science and technology park should be fully relied on, and the planting area should be gradually expanded to meet the needs of MAODENG pasture and its surrounding areas for high-yield forage. The science and technology park should be built into a modern agricultural planting Park, and the planting of silage, forage, potato, grass seed, Wild Alfalfa, etc. should be planned, so as to realize the supporting of forest network and the integration of water, electricity and machinery. By 2012, the area of the science and technology park will be expanded to 36000 mu, becoming one of the largest high-yield feed supply bases and vegetable supply bases in the city, providing guarantee for the city's modern animal husbandry and vegetable basket project.

The project is a small reservoir mainly for flood control and irrigation, and also for comprehensive utilization of aquaculture and tourism. After the completion of Xiaogushan reservoir, the ranch will establish characteristic agriculture, animal husbandry, sightseeing and tourism based on production, and develop water recreation projects.
