Shanzuokou Township
Shanzuokou township of Donghai County is located at the eastern foot of Maling and the Bank of Shuhe River, which stretches for more than 800 Li. It is the most western part of Lianyungang City, and borders Tancheng County, Shandong Province.
In July 2020, it won the honorary title of national health Township from 2017 to 2019.

Geographic transportation
Shanzuokou township is located in the west of Donghai County, bordering Tancheng, Shandong Province, known as the "west gate" of Donghai. It is located at the east foot of Maling and the Bank of Shuhe River in the northwest of Donghai County. The township is 28 kilometers away from the county seat, which is the junction of three counties and eight townships in Jiangsu and Shandong provinces. It is known as the "west gate" of the East China Sea. The total area is 88.89 square kilometers, including 79800 mu of cultivated land.
The transportation in the township is convenient. National Highway 310 crosses 14 km from east to west, niuxu highway 17 km from north to south, and Dongtan highway 9.7 km from Jiangsu to Shandong.
There are 23 rural roads, with a total mileage of 73.18 km. It is the first to realize the construction of rural road network in the city, and has formed a relatively perfect half-hour traffic network in the countryside, which is "connected with trunk lines, connected with market towns, and integrated with industrial bases".

The local dialect belongs to Zheng Cao dialect, Qing Xu dialect, which is close to the accent of Tancheng area in Linyi.

Economics
Agricultural and sideline products are very special. Rich in peanut, potato, pea, mung bean, red bean, sesame and other high-quality grain and oil, chestnut, jujube, nectarine and other dry and fresh fruits, Yuancong, scallion, wax gourd, watermelon and other organic vegetables, as well as cattle, sheep, rabbits and other animal husbandry products, of which high-quality chestnut planting area of 20000 mu, known as the "hometown of chestnut". The average annual planting area of peanut is about 30000 mu, which is one of the main peanut producing areas in Jiangsu Province.
Township Construction
The built-up area of the town is 1.89 square kilometers. The main streets are Yingbin Road, Guangming Road, Hebin Road, Shichang Road, Shangmao road and Shunyuan road.
The construction of small towns has been continuously improved. Relying on the construction of "one lake, three districts" and "one line, two points", more than 10 million yuan has been invested in infrastructure in 2010. A new fitness square for citizens has been built, with supporting facilities such as plastic tennis court, basketball court, rockery, music fountain, outdoor theater and children's playground, so as to further improve the grade and level of farmers' cultural fitness.
Historical evolution
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was governed by Haizhou and was the seat of Chian town in Haizhou.
During the period of the Republic of China, the Prefecture was abolished and the county was directly under the central government of the province.
During the Anti Japanese War, the Chinese Communist Party merged this area into its own Tancheng County, Shandong Province.
In 1953, it was put under the jurisdiction of Donghai County, including 11 districts, 7 districts and Taolin district. However, mugezhai, Tuanshan, lulaozhuang, shannantou and other villages are located at the east foot of Maling on the West Bank of Shuhe River, and are classified into Tancheng County on the ground of inconvenient management across Shuhe river.
In 1958, it belonged to Taolin commune.
In August 1962, shanzuokou people's commune was set up.
In 1983, it was renamed shanzuokou township.
