Wulong district is located in the southeast of Chongqing, 107 ° 14 '~ 108 ° 05' e and 29 ° 02 '~ 29 ° 40' n. It is located in the lower reaches of Wujiang River, Wuling Mountain and Dalou mountain gorge in the southeast of Chongqing. Wulong district is a civilized unit in the national transportation industry, and has won the honorary titles of "pollution-free agricultural products producing area county", "2012 China's top ten sports marketing cities" and "China's outdoor sports base". In 2016, Wulong was awarded the "China sustainable development city model award" by the United Nations. In November 2016, it was selected by the National Tourism Administration as the second batch of "national global tourism demonstration zones" in China. Historical evolution
In the Zhou and spring and Autumn Periods, Wulong was a territory of Ba state and Zhixian County in the Warring States period. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, it was under the jurisdiction of Zhixian county and subordinate to Bajun county. In the Ming Dynasty, Wulong county was merged into Pengshui County in 1377. Hongwu 13 years (1380) restoration, changed "long" to "long", renamed Wulong County, under the Sichuan Chengxuan political secretary Fuzhou.
In the Qing Dynasty, in the first year of Emperor Kangxi (1662), Wulong county was abolished and merged into Fuzhou. Kangxi seven years (1668), changed to inspection department. During the period of the Republic of China, in the first year of the Republic of China, Fuling county was abolished and renamed the Fifth District of Fuling county. In May 1941, it was designated as Wulong Bureau of Fuling county. In 1944, Fuling county was divided into Wulong county.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the people's Government of Wulong county was established on December 5, 1949, under the jurisdiction of Fuling District Administrative Commissioner's office. On June 12, 1956, the 12 townships of Yajiang, Yongxing, Gaojian, Fenglai, Qixing, Tuanjie, Miaoya, Xunhua, Renmin, Yuesheng, Songyue and Gongnong in Miaoya District of Fuling county were assigned to Wulong county. On November 25, 1958, Longtang Township, Yangjiao District, Wulong county was assigned to Fuling County, Sichuan Province. In 1968, Fuling area was renamed Fuling area, and Wulong county was subordinate to Fuling area. On November 5, 1995, Fuling established a prefecture level city, and Wulong county is a county under Fuling City. In December 1998, Fuling City was officially abolished, and Wulong county was directly controlled by Chongqing.
On November 24, 2016, the State Council officially issued the reply of the State Council on Approving the adjustment of some administrative divisions in Chongqing (Guo Han [2016] No. 185): it agreed to abolish Wulong county and establish Wulong district.
On January 13, 2017, the people's Government of Wulong district was officially established. In October of the same year, Wulong District passed the national special assessment and inspection, and was officially approved by Chongqing Municipal People's government to withdraw from poverty-stricken areas and counties.

On December 1, 2017, Chongqing Municipal People's government officially issued the reply of Chongqing Municipal People's Government on revoking the establishment of Fengshan street and Furong street in Xiangkou Town, Wulong district (Yufu [2017] No. 49). The reply agreed to cancel Xiangkou town and establish Fengshan street and Furong street. Wulong district is located in the southeast edge of Chongqing City, at the junction of Wuling Mountain and Dalou mountain, belonging to the Karst Plateau and hilly area in southern China. The preliminary geological structure of Wulong area was formed in the second episode of Yanshanian, belonging to the Neocathaysian structural system and the North-South radial structural system, and the North-South structural belt of Sichuan and Guizhou. Jiangkou and other areas belong to the Sichuan Hubei Hunan Guizhou Uplift fold belt, and the fold structure forms a series of anticlines and synclines. There are jielongchang anticline, gantianwan syncline, daershan anticline, Yangjiao anticline, Sanhui anticline, chepan syncline and so on. The exposed strata in the core of the anticline are mostly Permian and Triassic, and the jielongchang anticline is mostly Cambrian. The axis of syncline is the middle upper Triassic strata.
