Liao Ning (living around 936) was named Xiji. He is from Huangpi village, Huangpi Town, Ningdu County, Jiangxi Province. Good at reciting, good at learning. In the late Tang Dynasty, he and his brother Liao Rong lived together in Nanyue, so Liao Ning was born in Hengyang. In the Southern Tang Dynasty, he was granted the magistrate of Pengze County, and soon returned to China. Later, he was appointed as the governor of Lianzhou (now Lianxian County, Guangdong Province), and he soon returned. After the death of Chu, he moved to Jinling, where he was the official of Jiangzhou. Ning, Zhang Ju and Li Jianxun are friends of poetry. Jiang Zuo, a scholar of poetry, seeks advice from Ning. He wrote seven volumes of poetry. When Ning was the magistrate of Pengze County in the early days, he wrote a lot of poems, including many famous verses, such as the verses of "the wind is clear, the monks stay in the bamboo Pavilion, and the rain is wet, the court releases the officials". When resigning, he wrote another poem: "five fights are futile, who will be the focus of two temples in three years. At present, Xie Yinyin has gone back and brought back the old wine. Liao Ning (unknown birth and death) was born in Hengshan, Hunan Province in the Later Zhou Dynasty. In the early days, he was hidden in Hengshan Mountain, the south mountain. He often climbed the top of zhurong peak, whistling and singing freely. After returning to the Southern Tang Dynasty, he was forced to move eastward to Jinling, where he was granted the title of wailang, a member of the Ministry of water, and was appointed as Peng Zeling. He went to Jiangzhou to train as a deputy envoy. Soon he resigned and retired to Hengshan. His poems are bold and vigorous, and he writes freely. He is friends with Zhang Juyong and Li Jianxun. Liao Ning was appointed magistrate of Pengze County by Li Jing, the capital of Chu (Changsha) built by Ma Yin in the period of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. Soon after he took office, he came back to China. After the restoration of Lianzhou (today's Lianxian County in Guangdong), he soon returned to his hometown. In 951 A.D., after Chu was conquered by the Southern Tang Dynasty, he moved to Jinling (now Nanjing), where he was the deputy regiment commander of Jiangzhou (now Jiujiang).

When Liao Ning was the magistrate of Pengze County in the early days, he wrote a lot of poems, many of which were well-known at that time, such as: Fengqing bamboo pavilion to stay monks, Fengxian Sha court to release officials.
