Later, Lun Wenxu won the first place in the competition and went to thank his boss when he returned home. As the porridge was nameless, the boss asked Lun Wenxu to name it. Lun named it "number one scholar and porridge" and wrote a plaque for the porridge shop.

According to legend, Lun Wenxu was born in Liyong village, Foshan City. Like a typical poor child out of school, he grows vegetables for a living. He is so clever that he often eavesdrop outside the village private school. When he was seven years old, the private school teacher saw that he had talent and accepted him as a student free of charge. Two years later, he was able to write poetry, known as "prodigy" and "ghost talent". But at this time, the old school teacher died of illness, so Lun Wenxu had to drop out of school and continue to grow and sell vegetables. The boss of a local porridge shop saw his difficulties and bought the vegetables he sold every day and asked him to send them to the porridge shop. When he brought it, the boss would put the leftover liver and intestines into the uncooked porridge, and then put some ginger and onion to treat him for lunch. For years, he ate this porridge for lunch.
When Lun Wenxu was 23 years old, he went to the provincial capital as a Confucian scholar and got into the Imperial Academy. Ten years later, he went to Beijing to take part in the imperial examination and the palace examination, and even won the first place in the imperial examination. When he returned home, he went to the porridge shop to thank the boss for his help, and asked him to cook the porridge he used to eat. The porridge had no name. The boss asked the number one scholar to name it. Lun Wenxu named it "number one scholar and porridge". Since then, the porridge shop has gained a great reputation. Number one scholar and porridge have also spread in Yangcheng, Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong and Macao.

One afternoon, when he was passing a porridge shop with a load of vegetables, he suddenly smelled a smell of porridge coming out of it, but he didn't have half a copper plate. Just at this time, the shopkeeper saw Lun Wenxu standing still not far from the shop. The shopkeeper came up to him, and after understanding the situation, he said, "well, in the future, you'll bring the dishes to me every day. I'll buy some of your dishes and give you a bowl of porridge every day. When you have enough tuition, you can go to school." After that, Lun Wenxu came to this porridge shop every day with vegetables, selling vegetables and drinking porridge, and every time he would drink different porridge, sometimes delicious meatball porridge, sometimes fragrant pig sausage porridge, sometimes memorable pig liver porridge, sometimes all three.
Many years later, Lun Wenxu lived up to the expectations of the public. He was No. 1 in senior high school and was rushed back to his hometown to report his good news. He did not forget the kindness of the shopkeeper and went to see the old shopkeeper. In front of the old shopkeeper, Lun Wenxu bowed three big bows respectfully and sent someone to give him a big gift. Finally, he asked the old shopkeeper, "please give me another bowl of porridge." The old shopkeeper ordered people to cook a bowl of porridge with meatballs, vermicelli and pig liver, and presented it to Lun Zhuangyuan. Lun Wenxu nodded with satisfaction while drinking. How many ups and downs are there in this porridge! After drinking the porridge happily, the number one scholar asked someone to bring his pen, ink, paper and inkstone. With a little thought, he named the porridge "number one scholar and porridge". He told the crowd, "the reason why I won the number one prize today is because I ate a lot of" number one and congee "in those years." With the title of No.1 Lun yuan, the reputation of No.1 Lun yuan and congee immediately spread, and there was an endless stream of people coming to the old shop to drink congee. From then on, the porridge shop became famous, and the "number one scholar and porridge" also spread.
