In April 2002, the eight village committees of Chengjiao, Dongcun, Huanglong, Wanjia, Dashu, Liuyi, Changhe and Jinshan were assigned to Xiushan town. Since then, Xiushan town has changed from a single county town management to a comprehensive town with both urban and rural areas, residents and farmers, urban industry, agriculture and township enterprises. The population has increased from 23422 to 60698. The area under its jurisdiction has expanded from 2.65 square kilometers to 46.95 square kilometers. From August to October 2002, according to the implementation plan of establishing urban community in city and county, Xiushan town successfully completed the work of abolishing neighborhood committee and establishing community neighborhood committee, and established Taihe community, Xiulu community, Qingfeng community, Binhu community neighborhood committee and Coordination Committee, which made a good step forward in the management of county and city.
