Cultural origins
Qingzhou, one of the ancient Kyushu in China, is the birthplace of Dongyi culture in primitive civilization. Due to its location in the transportation hub, as early as the spring and Autumn period, it had been trading with the western regions and became one of the earliest birthplaces of the ancient Silk Road. In the Yuan Dynasty, Hui merchants from the western regions moved to Qingzhou and gradually settled in the area of Dongguan in Qingzhou City at that time. They built mosques near the bustling market and settled down for a long time. There are about 20000 Hui people in Qingzhou, and Zhaode street is the most concentrated area of Hui people in Qingzhou.
