Liu Haisu Art Museum is a public welfare social and cultural institutions. It is located in Hongqiao Development Zone in the west of Shanghai, with beautiful environment and convenient transportation. It was named after Mr. Liu Haisu, one of the founders of China's new art movement under the May 4th New Culture Movement.

Title of Library

President Jiang Zemin inscribed the name of the museum, which officially opened on March 16, 1995. It integrates art museum, small museum and personal Memorial, and mainly performs the functions of Art Museum, such as art education to the public, organization of academic research, international and domestic cultural exchanges, and promotion of China's art cause. Introduction to the exhibition hall

Liu Haisu Art Museum covers an area of more than 3600 square meters, with a construction area of nearly 5000 square meters, a total of five floors and a height of 21 meters. As soon as you enter the ground floor, there is a 12 meter high preface hall, spacious and bright, with exhibition halls, galleries and rest rooms on both sides. Inside is a large exhibition hall of 450 square meters. There is no pillar in the hall, which is convenient for displaying and displaying various art works. On the front of the second floor, there are two exhibition rooms, East and West. In the room, there are large glass galleries, cultural relics, calligraphy and painting display. In the rear, there is an exhibition hall and a conference hall with simultaneous translation of various languages. On the third floor, there are art gallery and library. There are also two partitions, office and auxiliary rooms. The layout of the museum is reasonable and the decoration is exquisite. It is equipped with central air-conditioning equipment, advanced safety monitoring system, computer management system and modern lighting equipment. It is equipped with hydraulic elevator, which can reach all levels directly.

Shanghai Collection

The collection of Liu Haisu Art Museum is mainly based on the works of art donated by Mr. Liu Haisu. This part includes the calligraphy and paintings of famous artists of all dynasties collected by Mr. Liu Haisu and the most representative oil paintings, Chinese paintings and calligraphy works of his life. There are many rare treasures in ancient paintings, such as Xi Shan You Ju (Biography) by Guan Tong of the Five Dynasties, Mao Lin diezhang (Biography) by Ju ran of the Northern Song Dynasty, Hui Bu Hui Meng Tu Juan (Biography) by Li Zao of the Jin Dynasty, Qiu Ying's Qiuyuan Qiqi Tu (Biography) by Qiu Ying, peacock Tu (Biography) by Badashan people, Huangshan Tu (Biography) by Shi Tao, and the album of Dong Qichang and Shen Zhou. Mr. Liu Haisu's representative works include the traditional Chinese painting the wonders of Huangshan, the oil painting the sunset of Notre Dame, the snow of Taihu workers' sanatorium and so on.

Relocation of new library

In order to accelerate the construction of Shanghai as an international cultural metropolis, enhance the function of the art museum, and further inherit and carry forward Mr. Liu Haisu's educational spirit and artistic achievements, in September 2012, with the concern and full support of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government, Liu Haisu Art Museum started the relocation project.

Liu Haisu Art Museum is located in Kaiqiao Greenland East plot (No. 1609 Yan'an west road), Changning District, covering an area of 6000 square meters and a total construction area of 12540 square meters. It is close to Zhongshan Park Business District in the north, Donghua University and Shanghai Jiaotong University in the south, and Yan'an west road station of rail transit line 3 and line 4 in the west, with more complete supporting facilities, more humanistic atmosphere and more convenient public transportation.

The design of the new museum draws inspiration from Liu Haisu's profound life and artistic accumulation, and takes the idea of Huangshan's "sea of clouds and rocks" as Liu Haisu's "teacher and friend" all his life, to show his unconventional, passionate and heroic life attitude and artistic temperament.

The new hall has six exhibition halls, with a total area of 4331.4 square meters. Among them, four fixed exhibition halls will display Liu Haisu's works and collections all year round, Liu Haisu's artistic life and historical materials of Shanghai Academy of fine arts, and two temporary exhibition halls can display all kinds of art exhibitions at home and abroad. The new museum is equipped with advanced warehouse, library, public education activity area, art shop and other functional areas and supporting service facilities, striving to provide professional and humanized art appreciation environment and services for the audience. The new museum will be officially opened to the public on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Liu Haisu Art Museum (March 2015).
