Xiangyun Temple

Xiangyun temple, six kilometers southeast of Zhengzhou, is a thousand year old temple. According to the county annals, the temple was built in 686 A.D. in the second year of the Tang Dynasty, which has a history of more than 1300 years. When the ancient temple was in its heyday in the past, the Vatican Palace was radiant, the ancient pagoda was majestic, the morning bell and the evening drum, corresponding to the three cities.

Six kilometers southeast of Zhengzhou, the commercial capital, there is a thousand year old temple named Xiangyun temple. According to the county annals, the temple was built in 686 A.D. in the second year of the Tang Dynasty, which has a history of more than 1300 years. Xiaoputuo Xiangyun ancient temple is located at the junction of Zhengzhou Airport Expressway and Southwest Ring Expressway, Xiangyun Office of economic and Technological Development Zone, xiangyunsi village. The temple covers an area of 99 mu. It is 12 kilometers away from the Central Plains pagoda. It is adjacent to Huangdi ancient jujube garden in the south, Nancao Township in Guancheng District of Zhengzhou City in the west, golden Heron ostrich garden in Zhengzhou City in the north, and Xinzheng International Airport in the southeast. The Grand Canal of South to North Water Diversion, a national key project, flows through the temple. The temple is located on a high hill, surrounded by water on all sides, with elegant environment and convenient transportation. It is a rare leisure resort in Zhengzhou mall, a metropolis in Central China.

Historical records

Heyday: when the ancient temple was at its heyday, the Vatican Palace was radiant, the ancient pagoda was majestic, the morning bell and the evening drum, corresponding to the three cities. On the fourth day of the fourth lunar month, ancient temples and temple fairs are held. Junyishifu, supporting the old and carrying the young, and calling friends, arrived on schedule. The Huangsha ancient road was full of traffic, and people were noisy. Inside and outside the ancient temple, men and women, old and young, rub shoulders and heels. And the gold stove, the tripod, the cigarette curl, is the sincerity on the ground, and the sky is full of auspicious clouds. The grand occasion is also recorded in the annals of the city. After liberation, the ancient temple was built for more than 1300 years, with several brilliant times and ups and downs. In the early days of liberation, there were more than 50 courtyards, halls and squatters. Thousands of years of pine and cypress, ancient locust towering forest, stone inscriptions everywhere. The original bronze bell, up to two meters high and weighing about three tons, is famous for its morning bell and evening drum.

Current situation of ancient temples

It is a pity that man-made disasters have not been inevitable in the ten-year catastrophe of the ancient temple. Fortunately, due to the support of the party, the government and all walks of life, the ancient temple was officially approved to open on April 15, 2008. Master Huitong was appointed as the abbot of Xiangyun ancient temple, leading the believers to revive the Millennium ancient temple. Today's ancient temple has survived: a stone turtle, seven ancient steles, a 500 year old luohansong, a thousand year old Dragon King well, Daxiong hall and Shanmen hall, and a clear water canal around the temple. Now it is planned to rebuild Tianwang hall, sutra collection building, bell and Drum Tower, duobaota, Pudu bridge, pailou, nianfo building and Wuguan hall.

Xiangyun temple is a pure Taoist temple dedicated to promoting Guanyin culture in Zhengzhou. Based on the spirit of Guanyin, the temple is convenient for all living beings, purifies body and mind, and serves the society!
