It began to be built in 1923. Hubei provincial government turned Sheshan mountain into Wuchang Park and cancelled Shouyi park. Although there is a management office in Wuchang Park, the management has not improved, resulting in the waste of the park.
In 1935, Wuchang Park was renamed Shouyi Park (including the whole Sheshan area). During the Anti Japanese War, it was renamed Sheshan Park, and the words "Sheshan Park" were engraved on both sides of the bridge.
After the fall of Wuhan in 1938, the park was once deserted.
The People's Republic of China
After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, in June 1946, Hubei Provincial Council proposed that Sheshan park should be renamed Shouyi Park again, which has been used up to now.
In March 1950, with the cooperation of Huazhong University, Huazhong Agricultural College, Hubei military region and other 39 units, more than 50000 Platycladus orientalis trees were planted, and now they have grown into forests.
During the construction of Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge in the 1850s, the pangxiang tower, Yongtai platform, Yu stele, stele Gallery, Huangxing bronze statue, etc. were demolished. The park was moved to baobingtang, east of Wuchang Road, and the gate was moved to Wuluo Road, close to Hubei Provincial Library.
