Qinghai Provincial Museum

Qinghai museum is the first large-scale museum with modern functions in Qinghai. Its permanent exhibitions include "civilization of the source of rivers Qinghai historical relics exhibition" and "Qinghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition", which comprehensively display the long and splendid history and culture and rich and colorful national culture of various nationalities in Qinghai from different angles. Here, you can deeply explore the prehistoric civilization of Qinghai. The rough and exquisite five color dance pottery basin is the representative, or you can have a close contact with the mysterious and colorful "auspicious heavenly daughter Tangka", or you may be impressed by the exquisite carving of the gold-plated statue of Bodhisattva.

Qinghai Provincial Museum

Qinghai Provincial Museum is located in the east of Xinning square, Chengxi District, Xining city. It is the first large-scale comprehensive museum with modern functions in Qinghai Province. It is subordinate to the Department of culture, press and publication of Qinghai Province. It is a provincial public welfare first-class institution, covering an area of 17000 square meters and a building area of 20800 square meters.

Qinghai Provincial Museum was first built in 1957, and was officially established and opened to the public in September 1986. On May 1, 2001, the new museum of Qinghai Province was completed and opened to the public for free from April 1, 2008. In January 2017, it was rated as a national first-class Museum by China Museum Association.

As of December 2017, the museum has 10 main and side exhibition halls, covering an area of 9146 square meters. There are 7 Cultural Relics warehouses, covering an area of 2593 square meters. There are 14932 cultural relics in the collection, including 2193 precious cultural relics. Among the cultural relics in the collection, painted pottery and ethnic and religious relics in the new period are the most distinctive, involving religion, folk customs, politics, economy, military, production and life, etc. It is responsible for exhibition, cultural relic protection, scientific research, personnel training, social service function, foreign education and communication.

Development history

In 1957, the Preparatory Office of Qinghai Provincial Museum was established for the first time, which was abolished in 1962.

On August 29, 1978, the Preparatory Office of Qinghai Provincial Museum was established again.

On September 26, 1986, Qinghai Provincial Museum was officially established and opened to the public. The former site is located at 41 Weimin lane, Chengdong District, Xinning City, which is the former private residence of Qinghai local warlord Ma Bufang.

On May 1, 2001, the new museum of Qinghai Province was built and opened to the public in the east of Xinning square, Xinning city.

In September 2005, Qinghai Provincial Museum was upgraded to a national AAAA tourist attraction.

In April 2008, it was open to the public for free.

In July 2013, Qinghai Provincial Museum was rated as "national second-class Museum".

In May 2015, Qinghai Provincial Museum became the third batch of provincial national defense education demonstration bases in Qinghai Province.

In January 2017, it was promoted to the third batch of "national first-class museums".

Venue composition

On both sides of the first floor are mainly office areas. In the center of the building is a photo exhibition of clean government culture.

In the center of the second floor are the preface hall, the monitoring room, the island Memorial Hall and the VIP room. On both sides of the exhibition hall are the economic and social development achievements exhibition of Qinghai Province during the 12th Five Year Plan period, and the gold and copper statues and Thangka art exhibition of Tibetan Buddhism.

In the center of the third floor is the cultural relic safety department, fire education department and gift sales and leisure area. The exhibition halls on both sides are Qinghai historical relics exhibition and Qinghai intangible cultural heritage exhibition.

The fourth floor is mainly a reference room, conference room and multi-function hall.

Permanent exhibition

Qinghai Provincial Museum has 9 main and side exhibition halls, covering an area of 7400 square meters. In addition to "river source civilization - Qinghai historical relics exhibition" and "Qinghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition", about 30 temporary exhibitions with knowledge and education are held every year.

Qinghai historical relics exhibition

With the theme of "the source of three rivers", the basic exhibition hall of "civilization in the source of rivers -- Qinghai historical relics exhibition" is divided into two parts, namely "treasures of prehistoric civilization" and "essence of historical relics", with a total of 9 units, displaying more than 510 pieces (sets) of precious cultural relics at various historical stages.

Qinghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition

"Qinghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition" focuses on 57 national intangible cultural heritage items, 93 provincial intangible cultural heritage items and 199 representative inheritors of Qinghai Province. Taking some national intangible cultural heritage lists and provincial intangible cultural heritage lists of Qinghai as the main body, this paper highlights the folk customs of Qinghai, and shows the rich and diverse local and national cultures formed in the long-term survival and development process of various nationalities in Qinghai.

Collection

Important events

On the afternoon of September 22, 2014, Comrade Zhang Jianmin, then vice governor of Qinghai Province, visited the museum.

On the afternoon of June 24, 2016, song Xinchao, then deputy director of the State Administration of cultural relics, visited the museum.

In June 2017, Qinghai Provincial Museum held a series of activities of "cultural and Natural Heritage Day".

In July 2017, an expert group of Sinology and contemporary China came to Qinghai Provincial Museum to visit and study.

In July 2018, Zhang Li, vice governor of Qinghai Province, went to Qinghai Provincial Museum to guide his work.

Honors

In September 1996, it was named "provincial patriotism education base" by Qinghai provincial Party committee and provincial government. In October of the same year, it was named "school moral education base" by Qinghai Provincial Education Committee.

In 1997, it was named "national patriotism education base" by the State Administration of cultural relics.

In 2005, it was nominated for the top ten exhibitions of the Sixth National Museum from 2003 to 2004.

In January 2015, the State Administration of cultural relics announced the national second and third level museums in 2013, and the evaluation and review results of Qinghai Provincial Museum were excellent.

In July 2017, he won one silver award, two bronze awards and four excellent awards in the first Qinghai cultural and creative design competition, ranking the first in the number of awards of all participating units.
