Temple characteristics
Wonderful auspicious Hall
The Lord offers a thousand bowls of Manjusri Bodhisattva, whose golden body is unique in Shanghai. Manjusri Bodhisattva of thousand bowls, whose full name is "Manjusri Bodhisattva of thousand arms, thousand bowls and thousand Sakyamuni". It comes from the book of thousand bowls, in which there is Manjusri Bodhisattva of great sage. He has a color of cash, a thousand arms, a thousand hands and a thousand bowls on his body, and a thousand Sakyamuni appears in the bowl. Manjusri Bodhisattva is "the mother of all Buddhas in ten directions and all Bodhisattvas" (according to Huayan Sutra). In order to assist Buddhism and edify all living beings, Manjusri Bodhisattva shows that in fact, all three generations are Tathagata on fruit. In the past, it was named as the king Buddha on Dragon seed (according to shoulengyan samadhi Sutra). Now, it is called huanxizang mani Baoji Buddha in the north of China (according to the central digging magic Sutra). When it becomes a Buddha, it is widely known as Tathagata (according to Baoji Sutra). The image of Manjusri Bodhisattva with thousands of arms and bowls shows that his good fortune and wisdom are the same as Sakyamuni Buddha.
Manjusri statues originated from Mount Wutai in the Tang Dynasty. With the prevalence of Manjusri belief, they spread all over the country and were very common in Dunhuang murals in the late Tang Dynasty. However, it is rarely seen in temples nowadays. There are only temples such as daxiantong temple in Wutai Mountain and Chongshan temple in Taiyuan. The statue of Manjusri was carved in the 1990s. It was originally dedicated to yuantongbao Hall of Baoshan Temple in Shanghai. In May 2011, it was invited to jinhuangshuo temple in Dachang town.
Master Yuanying memorial tower
Master Yuan Ying (1878-1953) is the master of Yihuo hall, named Hongwu (1878-1953), taoguang (other name), Gutian (Fujian Province). He is a contemporary patriotic monk, a famous Buddhist leader, and the first president of China Buddhist Association. In his whole life, he preached scriptures and wrote nearly 20 kinds of books. On September 12, 1953, the master passed away in Ningbo Tiantong temple, and the relic was placed in Yuangong pagoda.
Since master Yuan Ying had been stationed in Shanghai to promote Buddhism in his later years, Zhao Puchu, a disciple of the master, proposed that at the end of 1953, the Buddhist Association of China set up the memorial tower of master Yuan Ying in Dachang Buddhist cemetery in the suburb of Shanghai. Master Xu Yun, master Ying Ci and master Neng Hai Hai wrote the TA Ming, and master Ming min, a disciple of the master, wrote a biography. At the beginning of the cultural revolution, Dachang Buddhist cemetery was destroyed and occupied by factories, and the master memorial tower was built in the wall. In August 2008, after the renovation of the original factory and the demolition of the wall, the memorial tower was able to see the sun again. On the afternoon of September 27, 2008, the staff of Baoshan cultural security office made a special trip to take photos and record the memorial tower. Since then, the memorial tower has been preserved in many places and moved to the jinhuangshuo temple for permanent worship at the end of 2010.
