Historical evolution
According to historical records, the temple was Feiliang temple and Lushan temple before the Tang Dynasty. In the ninth year of Wude (626 AD), it was looted and burned by bandits. In the 15th year of Zhenguan (642 A.D.), the monk of Emei Mountain, CI Ren, commonly known as elder Changmei, visited Lushan Mountain and stayed there. So he uprooted the jingman, leveled the foundation, raised money to build the Mahatma hall, molded the statue of the Great Buddha and created the "Great Buddha Temple".
It is said that during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty, the imperial concubine of Emperor Zhu Jianshen of Xianzong was ill for a long time, and she was in a good mood after dreaming about the temple scenery. The imperial concubine's dream coincided with the Lushan Grand Buddha Temple. The imperial concubine came to worship and recovered. After the monk Zhishen worshipped emperor Xianzong, the Emperor gave her name "Guangfu Temple" and wrote a letter to Bian Er, which is still in use today. The temple is now the seat of the state and City Buddhist Association.
Main building
Guangfu temple is located in the west to the East. It is built in the shape of a ladder along the mountain. It is overlapped and magnificent. The total construction area is about 5000 square meters. The architectural layout is arranged in seven levels on the back of a huge screen wall. Tianwang hall, Wanghai tower, Sansheng hall, Guanyin hall, Daxiong hall, Feiliang hall and mengduan temple are arranged in order to form a central axis and form the main building complex. Later, it gradually expanded from south to north, and became a large building group with orderly arrangement and coordination.
Zhaobi
There is a huge screen wall under the front steps of the temple. The screen wall is 14 meters wide and 12 meters high. On the front, there are four big characters of "scenic spot in southern Sichuan". On the back, there is the famous sentence "Ode to the torch of Lushan Temple" sung by Yang Sheng'an, the number one scholar in Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty, when he stayed in Lushan on the night of Torch Festival: "I stayed in Lushan tonight, and I was surprised that the gate of heaven was not closed at night. Who smashes the space and the stars fall into the world. This poem is the most vivid and vivid description of the torch festival in Xichang at that time.
On the two sides of the stone steps paved by bluestone are the relief pictures of the classic journey to the West. On the two sides of the columns are various kinds of small stone lions, which are lively and lovely.
Tianwang Hall
Maitreya Buddha, the four heavenly kings and the statues of Weituo are worshipped in the hall. There are two pairs of couplets on the columns outside the hall. One of them says, "if you go in and out of Si, you need to know your nature. If you go to Xu Tang, you have asked your heart." it comes from the Sutra of the sixth patriarch, which expresses the highest realm that monks want to pursue. Because the four heavenly kings hold different magic weapons, they also represent different meanings. For those who hold a sword, because the dance of the sword can drive the wind, they represent the wind; for those who hold a pipa, because the pipa needs to be tuned, they represent the tune; for those who hold an umbrella, they represent the rain; for those who hold a snake, they represent the smooth because the snake is very smooth. Therefore, they together represent "good weather".
Wanghai tower
Climb up to the second courtyard, which is a loft style building. Every temple in Lushan has a Wanghai tower. Wanghai tower of Guangfu temple is also known as "Yinyun Pavilion". This pavilion has the best view of Qionghai Lake, so it is famous far and near. There are many pilgrims, tourists and celebrities. For thousands of years, scholars and poets have been here, leaving many stories and poems. When we first came to Lushan, we introduced a huge Zhaobi, which was Yang Sheng'an, the number one scholar of Ming Dynasty, staying here, just in time for Xichang Torch Festival. At night, the torches on the four mountains are bright. The torches are reflected in the Qionghai lake. The sky and the world are one. Therefore, the poet's poetry flourished, and chanted "Lu Shan Guan Huo Yong Huai", a masterpiece of all ages, vividly sketching the magnificent scene of the vast starry sky and celebrating the torch festival with Yi compatriots. Therefore, it is also called "Guanju building". In October 1945, Chiang Kai Shek, Song Meiling and his wife also went here for sightseeing. After the liberation of Xichang, party and state leaders Deng Xiaoping, Li Xiannian, he long, Guo Moruo, Fei Xiaotong, Mao Zhiyong, etc. all visited here.
Three temples
Guanyin, Amitabha and great wisdom Bodhisattva are worshipped in the hall. In the middle of the hall are the remains of the 10th Panchen Lama in Tibet. There are two Osmanthus fragrans of Ming Dynasty in Dianqian well yard. The diameter of Osmanthus fragrans is about 28cm, and that of Osmanthus fragrans is about 52cm. In autumn, Osmanthus fragrans are in full bloom.
Buddism godness Guanyin Temple
The building area of this hall is more than 500 square meters. It is a three story, twelve sided attic style wooden structure, arched antique architecture, carved beams and painted buildings. All of them are hand drawn by local artists. It is extremely exquisite. Its image is second to none in the province. The hall houses a thousand handed statue of Avalokitesvara, 8.5 meters high, made of pure copper, the highest in Southwest China. Guanyin Bodhisattva gets its name because it is good at observing and listening to the sound of the world, seeking sound to save suffering, and because it can transform various images to save all living beings. It has thousands of hands to protect and thousands of eyes to observe, so it is called Guanyin Bodhisattva with thousands of hands and thousands of eyes. According to the Buddhist scriptures, Guanyin Bodhisattva has a great affinity with the Saha world. He prays in thousands of places and answers in thousands of places. The bitter sea is often used as a ferry boat. He has all kinds of feelings and wishes.
Da Xiong Hall
The existing Daxiong hall was rebuilt in the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1882 A.D.), in which there is a 4.8-meter-high Buddha statue of Sakyamuni, with 18 Arhats on both sides. The hall is where monks learn to read scriptures in the morning. In the hall, there is a bronze bell, weighing more than 1000 kg, cast in the 23rd year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1758 A.D.), which is one of the eight sceneries of qiongdu. The "old temple evening bell" refers to this ancient bell. When it is struck, it has a deep bell sound and a long time.
Feiliang Hall
Out of the main hall and up to the west, it is the Feiliang hall, the last hall at the west end of the main building complex of Guangfu temple. It is said that when the hall was built in the Tang Dynasty, the craftsmen failed to make the desired beam after many setbacks, and could not complete it as scheduled, so they burned incense to worship the Buddha. At night, the sky is full of rosy clouds. A satisfactory beam comes from the West and is firmly placed on the main hall. The main hall is finally completed. Hence the name of "Feiliang hall".
Mengduan Temple
It is said that the mengduan ancestral temple was built by the Duan family, a local official during the Nanzhao Dali period. The temple is named after the temple where Duan's daughter looks at Tianmu. In front of the hall is an ancient Chinese cypress, which is more than 2000 years old and more than 11 meters in circumference. It is one of the ten big tree kings in Sichuan. There is also a magical legend about this ancient cypress: according to legend, Lushan was a vast and uninhabited forest long ago, with no family or temple.
During the reign of emperor Tianyou of the Tang Dynasty, an elder monk named CI Ren came up on the mountain. Elder Tien has a full heaven, a red face and a silver beard. His eyebrows are one foot long. People call him elder Chang Mei.
Elder Chang Mei has traveled all over the world. He has been to many places. He has never seen Lushan, a place with green mountains and clear waters, a place with thousands of peaks, a place with thousands of schools, and a place of natural Buddha. So he decided to recruit craftsmen here to build a Buddhist temple.
Folklore
One day, a barefoot girl in a coarse cloth dress came up the mountain and begged the elder with long eyebrows to find something to do and beg for food. The little girl said that her surname was Duan, and her name was Duan Amei. She lived in a small fishing village, and she was 14 years old. Her parents died and were helpless. Crying while talking, very pitiful. Elder Chang Mei, with compassion in mind, left Duan A-Mei and told her to go down the mountain to carry rice and vegetables every day. Duan Amei is not afraid of being tired. She carries rice and vegetables from the foot of the mountain several times a day. She is very diligent. Elders and craftsmen like her very much. One day, when Duan A-Mei was carrying rice back to Lushan, he met an old man with a white beard riding a donkey in the woods. The old man with a white beard touched his beard with a smile and said to Duan A-Mei, "little sister, aren't you tired of carrying such heavy rice at a young age?" Duan Amei said: "not tired." The old man with white beard said, "I'll lend you the donkey and return it to me when the temple is repaired." Then the man disappeared. But the donkey obediently went up to Duan Amei and waited.
Donkeys have great strength and can run fast. They carry rice, vegetables, bricks and tiles, whatever they want. Before long, Lushan great Buddhist temple was repaired. On the eighth day of April of this year, Lushan Grand Buddha Temple held a ceremony of completion and opening. Craftsmen all said, "thanks to donkeys." When elder Changmei led the craftsmen to thank the donkey,
