Three hidden pools

Sanyitan is located in the northwest of Xuedou temple. The stream water flows from Dongao village to Yakou and turns into a waterfall, then falls to the hillside until the foot of the mountain, forming a three-level waterfall. Therefore, it is called sanyintan. With a total length of more than 1600 meters, from high to low, they are called shangyintan, zhongyintan and xiayintan respectively. Shangyintan is famous for its seclusion and danger; zhongyintan is famous for its beauty; xiayintan is famous for its beauty. Although the three hidden pools are located in the deep mountains and valleys, and it is difficult to visit them, they are still full of tourists.

Historical records

Mei Yaochen, a famous poet of the Song Dynasty, wrote in his poem "San Cen Tan", which can explain the beautiful scenery of San Yin tan. He wrote: "the waterfall on the top of the mountain calls for cold jade; then it falls to the waist of the jade mountain, three times to the foot of the mountain; if you want to cook the spring mountain, the monk's house sets up bamboo." Chiang Kai Shek believed in the folk saying that there was a dragon in sanyitan. Every time he returned to his hometown Xikou and lived in miaogaotai or Xuedou temple, he would go to sanyitan and stand in front of the old dragon statue to worship. Once, he took his grandson, Jiang Xiaowen, to the Dragon King Temple in sanyitan. He lit a candle, burned incense, and knelt down to pray. Seeing that his grandfather was so devout, Jiang Xiaowen asked with a smile, "grandfather, is there really a dragon? Have you ever seen it?" looking at his grandson, Chiang Kai Shek replied, "the dragon is an immortal in the sky. What you can see is not a dragon."

Is there a dragon in it? No one has seen it. No one can answer this question. It's only because of the special natural environment of this place, the cliffs, the roaring mountain wind, the chilling atmosphere, and the tourists standing by the pool, the deep pool is green and awe inspiring. Timid visitors may feel that there is a dragon in the pool. In fact, the water of the hidden pool leaps out from the three cliffs and turns into three waterfalls. There is a pool under the waterfall. If it is not deep enough, it can be called "upper hidden pool", "middle hidden pool" and "lower hidden pool".

Shangyintan

Along the cliff down to the bottom of the pool, built 216 stone steps, shaped like a ladder. There are huge stones standing on the two walls of running water, deep ravines on the steep walls, mottled moss on the rocks, and pines standing on the edge of ditches and ridges. There is a stone bridge on the pool. The waterfall falls down along the cliff, more than 40 meters high. The running water is in the shape of lines. The water strikes the two cliffs and reverberates. On the bridge at the bottom of the valley, the fog is filled with water and the water mist is transpiration, giving people a cool feeling.

Zhongyintan

One mile down from shangyintan to zhongyintan. The shade covers the stream. There are many rocks in the gully, which are full of ups and downs. The water flows around the rocks, twists and turns, and rushes out of the rock stratum after many difficulties and dangers. Then, with one effort, he spurted out of the cliff mouth and refracted to the East, forming an elegant waterfall. The mountain wind blew up water droplets and splashed in four directions. He couldn't tell whether it was fog or rain. His poetic and picturesque feeling was in front of his eyes.

Xiayintan

500 meters down from zhongyintan is xiayintan. There are huge rocks here. Cross overlapping, the size of the block stone piled up more than 10 square meters. Among them, there is a stalagmite peak, which is more than 20 meters high. The stalagmite peak is on the pool, and the deep pool is at the bottom of the peak, showing half of each. There are two cliffs in the pool, forming two natural waterfalls, which are called "Yuanyang waterfall" by the local people. This pair of mandarin ducks are very fond of each other. It seems that they are inseparable in the water whirling pool, and then they quickly become waterfalls. When the rosy clouds cross the sky. Gorgeous, such as a pair of mandarin ducks flying in the air, lingering and beautiful.

There is a temple near the exit of xiayintan waterfall, covering an area of about 160 square meters, which is called "Dragon King Temple". In the past, when there was no rain in the sky for a long time in summer and autumn, there was drought in the sky, and there was no water for people and animals. Local people went to sanyitan to worship the Dragon King and pray for rain. In his youth, Chiang Kai Shek once participated in the "dragon taking" activity. After he left home, he often talked about taking dragon. Every time he went to sanyitan, he would go to the Dragon King Temple and kneel down to the Dragon King statue. Once upon a time, it was the season of lack of rain. Accompanied by his secretary Wang Rizhang, he took a sedan chair to Dong'ao village. They arrived at the "Dragon King Temple" in xiayintan. Chiang Kai Shek asked Wang Rizhang, "do you have a candle with you?" Wang Rizhang was enjoying the "mandarin duck waterfall". He didn't hear what Chiang Kai Shek said. Looking back, he saw that Chiang Kai Shek had knelt in front of the Dragon King statue for three times. He stood up and walked outside. At this time, the sky was covered with dark clouds, and suddenly it began to rain. Chiang Kai Shek walked out of the Dragon King Temple and let the rain drench him. Wang Rizhang pulled him into the temple. Chiang Kai Shek said, "the Dragon King has appeared. Go back and send someone to repair the temple immediately." They went home in the rain. The next day, he ordered three Masons. The Longwang temple in sanyitan was repaired. As for whether Chiang Kai Shek asked the "Dragon King" for the rain on that day, no one can answer. This kind of accidental coincidence is not justified.
