It is said that in the early days, there lived a clay craftsman surnamed Wang on jigongzui mountain in Gujian mountain. The craftsman's craftsmanship is superb, and the clay figurines he makes are lifelike. Most of the people who ask him to sculpt are famous people.

One night, in his dream, Wang mudsmith saw goddess Guanyin. Goddess Guanyin said: "Gujian mountain has beautiful scenery and pleasant climate. It's a good place. You live and work in peace and contentment here. Thanks to God's blessing, you should thank God. " When he woke up, he thought about his dream again and again, and discussed with his wife how to thank God. After thinking about it, Wang decided to make a statue of Goddess Guanyin. His wife thinks that's the only way.

As a result, Wang spent more than two months elaborately sculpting a statue of Goddess Guanyin and putting it on the top of jigongzui mountain. In front of Guanyin, he was the first to make a wish: "I hope my son will grow up and become an official and noble man in the future. Unlike him, he will be a clay maker all his life."

Ten years later, Wang's son, because of his real talent and learning, was favored by the county magistrate of Nanzhou (today's Qijiang) and recommended to Chuzhou (today's Chongqing city). Wang's family was well developed, which made people believe that the Bodhisattva on jigongzui was really spiritual. The son of Wang mud craftsman, who became a noble official, sent his men to build a temple on the top of the mountain. This temple is Jingyin temple, which is still there.

The second year after the temple was repaired, Wang's son returned to his hometown to visit his relatives and went to jigongzui with Nanzhou county magistrate to worship Guanyin. They made a wish at the same time, hoping to be promoted in the coming year. As expected, Wang's son was promoted the next year. So the magistrate of Nanzhou murmured: should the Bodhisattva be far away or near. Since then, the saying "should the Bodhisattva of jigongzui be far away or not be near" has spread, and the more it spreads, the more it spreads, the more it becomes divine. Many people who want to get glory and wealth come all the way to jigongzui to burn incense and make a wish!

The saying "the Bodhisattva of jigongzui should be far away, not near" was passed down to the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Once, a master of Baxian came to Gujian mountain to play, accompanied by the master of Qijiang County. On the way, the beautiful folk songs of women came from the deep forest. The entourage was stunned. Someone went to inquire and saw that the woman was as beautiful as peach blossom. She could not hide her aura and charm between the coarse cloth and the clothes. It's said that the vow here is effective. Master Baxian and master Qijiang make vows together, hoping to form a hundred year marriage with the woman. The master of Baxian also left a marriage lock on the Shesheng cliff of jigongzui.

The next year, the master of Baxian sent the invitation to Qijiang. After reading the invitation, the master of Qijiang knew that their wishes at the same time had fallen on the master of Baxian. Master Qijiang sighed: the Bodhisattva of jigongzui should be far away, not near! When the master of Baxian was newly married, he was very happy in body and mind, and the special envoy renovated the temple.

If Wang's son has a cause and a result, the master of NABA county's vow has convinced people that "the Bodhisattva of jigongzui should be far away, but not near". So the saying that "the Bodhisattva of jigongzui should be far away, but not near" has spread further and further. Up to now, there are more and more marriage locks on Shesheng cliff.
