history
The full name of Maojiawan is qianmaojiawan Hutong. It is in zhongmaojiawan Hutong on the east of Xisi North Street, Xicheng District, Beijing. About 60 meters away from its west entrance, there are two hutongs in the South and North. Qianmaojiawan in the South leads to genbei street in xihuangcheng, and houmaojiawan Hutong in the North leads to taipingcang. In the mid-1920s, there were only three houses in the north of Hutong road in former Maojiawan. Dongtou house No.3 is an important official of Daliyuan in Qing Dynasty. The gate is a three Bay old-fashioned mansion style building, covering an area of about 10 mu. The middle house No.5 is Jiang Menglin, the president of Peking University at that time. It is a courtyard with Yu's garden outside its backyard. The West House No.8 is Pan's house, the owner of which is Pan Fu, Zhang zuolin was the Prime Minister of the military government. Pan's house covers an area of more than 8 mu, with five yards. In the east yard, there are rockery, garage and study; in the west yard, there are Taihu stone, pool and dance hall. The three houses occupied a small alley, and the other residents were in Lunan. The Maojiawan house Lin Biao lived in generally refers to the pan family, No. 8 of Xitou house. In early 1936, pan died of illness and was sold to Guo Zhihan, the former Vice Minister of finance of Duan Qirui's government at that time. At that time, he was the manager director of Jicha appeasement office, the Quartermaster director of the 29th army, and the financial director of Jicha Political Committee. It was acquired by the state in 1950. Guo Zhihan's third son, Guo Jiawu, has a detailed account in his memoir "my former residence, Maojiawan" published in the journal century.
Guo Zhihan also had an association with Pan Fu. As early as 1926, Guo Zhihan was the second minister of finance when Duan Qirui was in charge of the government. After Zhang zuolin came to Beijing, he sent pan Fu to take over as the second minister of finance. Song Zheyuan led the 29th army to Beiping in 1935. The two met again this time, and their relationship was very harmonious. At the beginning of 1936, pan Fu was released from illness. Wang Shuchang, the former chairman of Hebei provincial government, told Guo Zhihan that the pan family wanted to deal with Maojiawan's residence and handle pan Fu's funeral. He asked Guo Zhihan to tell song Zheyuan about it and ask for help. Guo Zhihan bought the house for 15000 yuan. At that time, the price of gold was 40 yuan or two, and the house price was about 35 pieces of gold. On the market, each bag of Bingchuan flour is 240 yuan, and the price is about 6000 bags of flour.
At that time, the upper levels of the 29th army all bought houses nearby. Except for the Wuyi storehouse in Xicheng District, which song Zheyuan had already bought, the other leaders of the 29th Army bought new houses at this time. Feng Jiangan's residence was in the West Fourth courtyard Hutong, Zhang Zizhong's residence was in the chair Hutong on Fuyou street, and Qin Dechun's residence was in the xihuangchenggen (now the east entrance of Lingjing hutong) on Fuyou street, Chief of staff Zhang Weifan's residence is in Wangjia Hutong in the north of Dongsi, division commander Zhao Dengyu's residence is in Gulou Street, general councilor Xiao Zhenying's residence is in beibing horse division of Di'anmen, division commander of cavalry Zheng Dazhang's residence is in Xicheng patrol hall, deputy commander Tong linge's residence is in Dongsi shitiao, division commander Liu Ruming's residence is in Dongsi Liutiao, and Guo Zhihan's residence is in Maojiawan No.8 in front of Xisi.
7、 After the July 7th incident, the 29th army withdrew from Beiping in a hurry. After the Japanese army entered Beiping, the houses of the upper class of the 29th army were sealed up. Maojiawan is no exception. Except for clothes, all the hardwood furniture, luggage, books, calligraphy and paintings are still there. When the Japanese invaded Hong Kong, Aoki, the spy chief of tufeiyuan, came to Hong Kong. He had met Zhihan and Zhang Weifan in Peiping, so he sent someone to pick up guozhihan and Zhang Weifan who lived in Tongluo Bay temporarily. Aoki invited guozhihan and Zhang Weifan to a banquet, with Mei Lanfang and Hu Die at the same table. Aoki persuades Guo and Zhang to go out to work for the Japanese. He agrees to return the two houses in Peiping. Guo, Zhang and Mei and Hu, who are sitting at the same table, can't offer excuses. And then it didn't work out.
In 1945, when Japan surrendered, Guo Zhihan went to sun Lianzhong, commander of the 11th war zone, to apply for the return of the property seized by the Japanese army. However, the Maojiawan house had been taken over from the Japanese army by the Ministry of communications of the Kuomintang. When the order of return was approved, the Ministry of communications had ransacked all the property and furniture of the house, leaving only an old empty house.

In the middle of March 1950, Wang Shuchang asked Guo Zhihan about the situation of Maojiawan No. 8, and said that the Northeast People's government wanted to buy office space. When Guo Zhihan learned this, he wanted to donate the space to the country. Later, it was said that Comrade Xing Xiping (Xu Bing) of the United Front Department of the Central Committee personally instructed that Guo Zhihan and Guo Jiafang (who joined the party in Peking in 27 years, and later led the uprising with he Jifeng and Zhang Kexia in the Huaihai Campaign) were patriotic and democratic figures and Uprising generals. To implement the united front policy, it was suggested that it was better to sell them through negotiation. So in the middle of April, the two sides agreed that the price of Maojiawan No. 8 house would be 2000 pieces of "big five pieces" white cloth. According to the official price of 260000 yuan per piece at that time, a total of 520 million yuan (old RMB), the house would be vacated within one month.
Later, Gao Gang came to Beijing temporarily and lived here,
