Historical heritage

The history of Sinan residence began in 1920. This year, along rue Lafayette (today's Fuxing Middle Road) to the south of French garden, the first batch of garden houses rose. In the following ten years, garden houses in the south of Lafayette Road, the east of route Massenet road and the west of Avenue dubail road were built one after another, attracting a large number of military and political dignitaries, entrepreneurs, professionals and well-known artists to move in, making the area a residence and meeting place for the upper class at that time.

In September 1999, the construction and housing administration of Shanghai Municipality determined several excellent historical districts in Shanghai as the pilot sites for preservation and renovation. The 47th and 48th blocks in Luwan District are listed as one of the pilot projects. The specific scope of this area: it starts from Chongqing South Road in the East, reaches the border of garden house on the west side of Sinan road in the west, neighbors the Medical College of Shanghai Jiaotong University in the south, and ends at Fuxing middle road in the north. It is divided into East and west parts with Sinan road as the boundary. It involves the preservation of 51 historical buildings and collects 8 types of modern residential buildings in Shanghai. This is the block today known as Sinan mansion.

As the only project in the center of Shanghai that aims at the preservation and protection of a piece of garden houses, "root seeking" and "Reconstruction", like two sides of a coin, run through the preservation, protection and transformation of Sinan mansion for more than ten years.

Background

Sinan mansion is one of the pilot projects of preservation, protection and reconstruction of Shanghai historical and cultural area and excellent historical buildings. It is an important part of Hengshan Road Fuxing Road Historical and cultural area. It is also one of the most concentrated areas of independent garden houses in the center of Shanghai. Sinan mansion project, as a special fund for the protection of national historical and cultural city, aims to cooperate with the overall urban development planning of Shanghai and the process of building Shanghai into an international economic, financial, trade and shipping center, becoming a new highlight of urban construction.

Among them, 15 independent garden houses are rented rooms for the whole building.
