Ji Hongchang, a native of Fugou, Henan Province, joined the northwest army in his early years and was promoted to brigade and division commander for his bravery and good fighting skills. 1929
He served as chairman of Ningxia provincial government, commander in chief of the 10th army of the Kuomintang, commander in chief of the 22nd Route Army and commander in chief of the 30th army. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1934 and continued to carry out Anti Japanese activities in Tianjin. On November 9 of the same year, he was stabbed and arrested by the special agent of the revival society of the Kuomintang. On November 24, he died bravely in Beiping army prison.

Ji Hongchang's former residence is located at No.40 road of French Concession (now No.5 Huayuan Road, Heping District). It is a three story small foreign building, also known as red building. It is the residence of martyr Ji Hongchang for anti Japanese activities in Tianjin. The building was built in 1917, with a construction area of more than 1000 square meters. It is of brick and wood structure and red brick fair faced wall. It was designed by shadley engineering company in the old days, with a total construction area of more than 1000 square meters. It was purchased by general Ji Hongchang from Deshan hall in the name of Youyu hall in 1930. The first floor of the building is used for reception, the bedroom and living room are set on the second floor, the secret printing room of the underground party is on the third floor, and the reception room of the underground party members is on the downstairs. In 1930, patriotic general Ji Hongchang bought the building in the name of youyutang. The next year, his family moved in. At the time of the national crisis, he and Feng Yuxiang, who used to be the chairman of Ningxia government, formed the Anti Japanese Alliance Army and personally served as the commander in chief of the former enemy. In 1933, the Anti Japanese Alliance was defeated by Chiang Kai Shek and the Japanese aggressors. Ji Hongchang returned to Tianjin to live here and continue his anti Japanese activities. He raised money, collected weapons and carried out secret revolutionary activities in this residential building.
In order to meet the needs of underground work, Ji Hongchang transformed the building, changing the three doors on the second floor into seven doors, so that the doors in the building are connected with each other. On the south side of the building, there is a living room. On the wall, there is a banner written by Ji himself: the moon is so long in Songjian; what's the point of floating clouds outside. He was arrested in Tianjin hotel in 1934 and then killed secretly. After Ji Hongchang died, his wife Hu Hongxia mortgaged the former residence to others at a low price to prepare for the funeral, and the whole family rented it in Oxford villa. In April 1944, the former residence was sold to others. In 1955, it was sold to the joint clinic of traditional Chinese medicine in Heping District. Now it is Heping hospital. In 1981, a new brick and concrete two-story building was built. Now the Institute has 68 buildings and bungalows, with a total construction area of 1617.61 square meters.
In July 1982, Tianjin Municipal People's government officially declared the former residence as "Tianjin cultural relics protection unit". In September 1984, young people in Heping District donated a white marble plaque engraved with "former residence of Ji Hongchang martyr", which was inlaid in the middle of the north side of the red building. The courtyard wall was covered with vines, making Ji Hongchang's former residence shining. In November 1995, on the occasion of the centenary of general Ji Hongchang's birthday, the CPC Tianjin Heping District Committee and the people's Government of Heping District of Tianjin built a bronze statue of general Ji in the Central Park in front of the Red Mansion. General Ji, holding a big knife, looked out into the distance with a majestic posture. On the base of the statue was engraved a poem written by general Ji on the execution ground using the earth as paper and dead branches as pens "I hate not to die against Japan. I'll leave it as a shame today. It's still the case when the country is broken. I don't care about it.".

Ji Hongchang is a famous patriotic general in China. In order to fight against Japan and Chiang Kai Shek, he brought his family to Tianjin and lived in Tianjin for a long time. No. 4 Huayuan road in Heping District is his former residence in Tianjin. After joining the army at the age of 18, Ji Hongchang was promoted to brigade commander, division commander, army and civilian with his outstanding ability and courage, and later served as chairman of Ningxia provincial government. In 1931, he was forced to go abroad by Chiang Kai Shek because he opposed the Kuomintang's policy of non resistance to Japanese aggression. After the January 28 Incident in 1932, Ji Hongchang returned home and came to Tianjin with his family from Shanghai to live in seclusion in the Red Mansion in the French concession. Ji Hongchang often haunted between Peiping (now Beijing) and Tianjin, carrying out Anti Japanese and anti Jiang activities. In 1933, he joined forces with Feng Yuxiang and Fang Zhenwu to form the chasui Anti Japanese Alliance Army in Zhangjiakou. He personally served as the commander of the second army of the Alliance Army and the commander in chief of the former enemy on the North Road. In 1934, he founded the "Chinese people's anti fascist alliance" in Tianjin, where he served as chairman of the Central Committee. In a secret activity on November 9 of the same year, Ji Hongchang was arrested in Tianjin National Hotel and killed by the Kuomintang in Beiping on November 24.
The western style building where Ji Hongchang lived during his stay in Tianjin once became a secret activity spot for anti Japanese activities. He and his wife Hu Hongxia sold clothes and property many times to buy weapons for the Anti Japanese front line. For the sake of safety, he hid the weapons in the floor of the corridor on the second floor, and then transferred them to the Anti Japanese front line. Here, Ji Hongchang, together with Xuan Xiafu and other comrades, set up a secret printing office to compile and print the national war flag, the North China beacon, the great wall and other publications to publicize the Anti Japanese principles. This residence records Mr. Ji Hongchang's admirable patriotic behavior during his lifetime. In memory of this patriotic general, in 1962, Tianjin Municipal People's government designated Ji Hongchang's former residence as a cultural relic protection unit.

After returning to China in 1932, he sneaked back to Songbu, Hubei Province in August and failed to instigate the old uprising. In February 1933, he went to Zhangjiakou to participate in the preparation for the establishment of the Chahar people's Anti Japanese Alliance Army. He served as the commander of the second army, the commander in chief of the former enemy on the North Road and the garrison commander of Zhangjiakou. He expelled the Japanese puppet army from the whole territory of Chahar and recovered Toronto. In January 1934, he went to Shanghai and joined the Communist Party of China. Then he went to Tianjin to continue the activities of the Anti Japanese United Front. On November 9, he was stabbed by KMT agents in the French concession in Tianjin and arrested. On November 24, he died peacefully in Beiping army prison. In 1945, the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held, and the Party Central Committee decided to award Ji Hongchang the title of "revolutionary martyr".

In summer, it is affected by the western edge of the Northwest Pacific subtropical high, with southerly wind, high temperature, high humidity and concentrated rainfall. Spring and autumn are the season transition period, with frequent cold and warm air conflicts. In spring, it is dry, windy and rainy, with changeable cold and warm. In autumn, it is windy and sunny, and cold wave often occurs in late autumn. The annual average temperature is 11.4-12.9 ℃, the coldest in January of the year, the monthly average temperature is - 3.0-5.4 ℃, and the hottest in July, the monthly average temperature is 25.9-26.7 ℃.
