Lu garden, originally a private garden, was built in 1904 and rebuilt as a park after being acquired by Macao government in 1973. The scenery in the park is picturesque and poetic. It looks like a quiet, elegant and peaceful Jiangnan scenery. It has the pattern of Suzhou Lion Forest, giving people a feeling of "seeing the big from the small". It is the only park with Suzhou garden charm in Hong Kong and Macao.
Lulianruo Park
Lu lianruo Park, also known as Lu Yuan or Lu Jiu garden, is named after Lu lianruo, the son of Lu Chuo, a wealthy Chinese businessman in the 19th century. It is located at No. 10, old Raleigh Road, Macao, covering an area of 11846 square meters.
Lulianruo park is the only famous garden with Suzhou Hangzhou garden design style in Macao Peninsula. The park is full of pavilions, ponds, bridges, caves, waterfalls, strange rocks, winding paths and corridors, showing the greatest characteristics of Suzhou Hangzhou garden. At the same time, the park is still integrated with southern European characteristic buildings, such as spring thatched cottage, walls, etc., reflecting the Macao culture of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures.
In 1992, lulianruo Park was rated as one of the eight new attractions in Macao.

Historical evolution
Lu lianruo Park was originally a vegetable farm in Longtian village. In 1870 (the ninth year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty), Lu Huashao (Lu Jiu), a wealthy businessman, bought it as a private garden. Lu lianruo, his eldest son, hired Liu Jilu, a native of Xiangshan, to design the garden. The garden was built in the style of Suzhou famous garden. It was originally called "entertainment garden". It was built in 1904 and officially completed in 1925. In May 1912, at the invitation of the master, Sun Yat Sen stayed in the spring thatched cottage to meet Macao's famous Chinese and Portuguese figures and revolutionaries.
In the early 1970s, Lu Huashao and Lu lianruo died one after another, leading to the decline of their family. In 1973, the Macao government bought Lu Yuan. After repair, it was opened to the public on September 28, 1974 and became "lulianruo Park".
Introduction to the park
Lulianruo park is located in the middle of Macao Peninsula, at the north foot of Yangshan mountain in the East and at the junction of Raleigh old road and Holland Garden Road, with a total area of 1.78 hectares. The scenery in the park is picturesque and poetic. It looks like a quiet, elegant and peaceful Jiangnan scenery. It has the pattern of Suzhou Lion Forest, giving people a feeling of "seeing the big from the small". It is the only park with Suzhou garden charm in Hong Kong and Macao.
Entering the park from the main entrance, there is an antique circular arch with four characters of "Pingshan Mirror Tower". On both sides, there are Avenue full of flowers and green bamboos. Towering banyan trees, bamboo groves and blooming flowers set off pavilions, winding corridors, pond bridges, waterfalls, rockery and rocks. The scenic spots in the park are well distributed and the scenery is well arranged. The rockery is piled up with wonderful peaks and rocks. The water falls from the top of the rockery to form a five fold waterfall. The water flows into the small pond at the foot of the rockery. An ancient beauty named Yuli pond is built with huge stones. The pond is surrounded by willows. The water in the pond is as bright as a mirror. The white lotus is swaying. Groups of African crucian carp are swimming around. The round lotus leaves and the water flowing across the pond are curved The Jiuqu bridge is a mirror of each other.
The main building of the garden is the water Pavilion Hall of "spring thatched cottage", which connects the scenic spots through the stone path around the water surface in front of the hall.
Next to the plum Pavilion is a Chinese style cloister, the Baibu corridor. There are many rare plants planted outside the corridor. At the same time, it is also the first choice for small-scale exhibitions, such as orchids and bonsai.
Through the moon cave, the "yicui Pavilion" is on the left, where you can enjoy a variety of bonsai.
Tourism characteristics
Although chuncaotang is a typical Chinese building, the exterior wall of the house is beige, which is popular among Portuguese people, with white lines. The 12 porch columns are also in Gothic architectural form. The top of the column is decorated with white European pattern. The chair type fence on the platform near the pond is bright red, which is popular among Chinese people. It makes people realize the reflection of this Chinese building There are traces of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures.
The scenery of lulianruo park is unique among many parks in Macao. It was rated as one of the eight new attractions of Macao in 1992.
historical figure
Lu lianruo (1878-1927) is a businessman and philanthropist in Macao. Lu Jiu's eldest son, named Hongxiang, is called lianruo. He was born in Xinhui, Guangdong Province.
Lu lianruo, a 17-year-old disciple of Xinhui County, founded a group of righteous schools in the township and advocated the establishment of purentang. Later, he moved to Macao and inherited his father's career. He is also a major shareholder of Nanyang Tobacco Company and one of the two bosses of Baoheng bank. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Lu lianruo and his colleagues raised money and founded the Macao Confucian school to recruit poor teenagers. After the establishment of Macao Chamber of Commerce in 1913, he was elected as the chairman. In 1913, 1919, 1921 and 1923, he was elected as the Prime Minister of Macao Jinghu hospital. Lu lianruo supported Sun Yat Sen's revolution. In 1912 and 1913, he received Sun Yat Sen's second visit to Australia and stayed in Lu Yuanchun thatched cottage.
All his life, Lu lianruo was awarded the senior official of the Qing Dynasty, the first-class wearing of Hualing and the second-class Gongsheng of Zhejiang Province. He was awarded the third class Medal of Portugal in 1913 and the first class Medal of Christ of Portugal on April 13, 1925. He died in Macao in 1927.
