In Zhuji Fengqiao Heping Road, it was built in the Southern Song Dynasty. Because the hall is spacious and large-scale, it is called "Fengqiao Temple". The grand temple is composed of bell tower, Drum Tower, front hall, stage, middle hall, back hall, East and West Wing rooms. The building is magnificent, with pillars painted and beams carved in the hall. City Protected Historic Site.
Fengqiao Temple
Fengqiao temple, a provincial cultural relics protection unit. Located in Fengqiao town, Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province, it was built in the Southern Song Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. It is composed of bell tower, Drum Tower, front hall, stage, middle hall, back hall, East and West Wing rooms, etc. The whole building is carved with beams and painted buildings, with exquisite workmanship and magnificent atmosphere.
On March 31, 1939, when Comrade Zhou Enlai personally visited the front line of Anti Japanese War and passed Fengqiao, he made a speech to people from all walks of life on the stage of the grand temple, making it one of the bases of patriotism education. In 1981, it was announced as a county-level cultural relics protection unit.
It faces south, with a rectangular plane. The central axis is the hall, the stage, the middle hall, and the back hall. There are wing rooms, bells, drum towers, and ear rooms on both sides. The hall is five rooms wide. It is of the beam lifting type in the Ming and the second rooms, and the bucket type in the middle. It is made of single-layer hard hill. The stage is connected with the foyer and the plane is square. The caisson is made of domed bucket arches and beams. It is exquisitely carved and resplendent in gold and jade. The central hall is a convex plane with three rooms and two lanes in width. The front and back roofs are connected. It is large-scale and exquisite in materials.
The temple, formerly known as Ziwei Marquis temple, was built to sacrifice Yang Yan, a boatman of Ming Dynasty, to protect the country and the people. It was destroyed during the Xianfeng and Fengnian periods of Qing Dynasty. Soon after, people were raising money to rebuild. On March 31, 1939, Premier Zhou Enlai inspected the defense of eastern Zhejiang and delivered a speech to the people of all walks of life at the grand temple stage in Fengqiao, which was warmly welcomed by the local people. Fengqiao temple is a large-scale, exquisite and well preserved temple. It is not only an important object for the study of folk temple architecture, but also has important commemorative significance.
