Shangqing palace, a famous Taoist temple, is located in cuiyunfeng, Mangshan Mountain, north of Luoyang City, Henan Province. According to legend, it was built in the Kaiyuan period of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty as the place where the emperor made alchemy. It is a green brick temple, compact and quiet. Located in the northwest corner of Luoyang City, 4 kilometers. Located on Mount Mang and Cuiyun peak, it is the commanding height of the northern suburb of Luoyang. Although the mountain is not high, the terrain is steep. The trees on the mountain are lush and green, so it is called "cuiyunfeng". It is a summer resort with beautiful scenery. In the first year of Qianfeng (666) of Tang Dynasty, Lao Tzu (Li Er) was worshipped as emperor Xuanwu. In the 29th year of Kaiyuan (741) of Tang Dynasty, the two capital states were ordered to set up temples to offer sacrifices. Therefore, Shangqing palace was also called emperor Xuanyuan temple. Later generations also worshipped Lao Tzu as supreme Laojun, so it was also called Laojun temple. In 749 ad, the poet Du Fu ascended the Xuanyuan emperor's temple, took a look at the situation of Luoyang's mountains and rivers, and wrote a famous sentence: "the mountains and rivers support the embroidered households, the sun and the moon are close to carving the beams". Wu Daozi painted the "five Saints and a thousand officials" here, and Su Dongpo of Song Dynasty also wrote the sentence at this time. The palace of the upper Qing Dynasty was abandoned in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties. It has been rebuilt many times since then. It was also renovated in the Republic of China. During the Anti Japanese War, it was destroyed by Japanese bombs. Only Cuiyun cave, Dongshang platform and Laojun hall on the top of three wujixie mountain survived. In the south of Shangqing palace and under mangshanling, there are Yuqing palace and Xiaqing palace. Xiaqing palace is small in scale, but very compact and quiet. There are five Taoist tombs nearby.
