Longtan Grand Canyon

Longtan Grand Canyon Scenic Area is located in Xin'an County, Luoyang City, Henan Province, 70 kilometers away from Luoyang, 180 kilometers away from Zhengzhou, Lianhuo expressway, 310 National Highway, Longhai railway across the county, with superior location and convenient transportation.

Longtan Grand Canyon is a U-shaped Canyon formed by purplish red quartz sandstone cutting down by running water. It is 12 km long. Main attractions

Thousand year old sandalwood

At the gate of the scenic spot, there is a thousand year old sandalwood, standing beside the cliff, about 30 meters high, about 40 meters wide, with a huge crown, dense branches and leaves, covering the sky and the earth; the roots are bare, clinging to the rocks, crisscrossing, such as a dragon lying in a crouch, growing only by absorbing the water between dolomitic limestone and quartz sandstone.

It's tenacious survival of the iron to give people a profound enlightenment. There is an altar for burning incense and making a wish.

Wulong waterfall

The river water of Longtan gorge falls down from the mouth of the overhanging ditch behind Wulongtan. It sounds like the roaring of dragons and tigers, shaking the valley, forming a spectacular waterfall. People call it "Wulong waterfall".

Ambergris Lake

There are springs gushing out between the cliffs, forming a continuous dripping landscape, such as the drooling of the green dragon, and there is a pool under it, which is formed by the gathering of the dragon's saliva.

Huanglongyu

Huanglongyu, which has a relatively gentle terrain, is the buffer area for entering the Grand Canyon. In the open narrow valley, the stream is murmuring, and the cliffs on both sides are craggy. Here, the water and grass are abundant and the vegetation is luxuriant. There are mainly Dryopteris, Selaginella angustifolia, digitalis, Magnolia officinalis, Gastrodia elata, lily, Begonia and other plants. Longtan gorge is located in a remote area, less disturbed by human life, rich in biological species, and the vegetation coverage rate is more than 90%. Fresh air, clean water and beautiful ecological environment. The vegetation is mainly composed of natural secondary forests, such as oak forest, miscellaneous forest, Platycladus orientalis and Robinia pseudoacacia forest. The main landscape trees are Pterocarpus tatarinowii, Fraxinus chinensis and Acer trilobata. Pinnate cross bedding: cross bedding refers to the laminar structure in which the fine lamina in the rock layer is regularly obliquely crossed with the rock layer, which is a basic structural form of sedimentary rock. During the Mesoproterozoic period around 1.2 billion years ago, it was a coastal beach environment. The two-way water flow caused by the ebb and flow made the quartz sandstone fine laminae deposited in the opposite direction, forming a very beautiful feathery and herringbone formation.

Qinglongtan

The pool is 30 meters long, 2-3 meters wide and about 2 meters deep. It is named because the sunlight reflects the green plants on both sides into the water and makes the water surface full of green light, just like a green dragon swimming here.

Heilongguan

The Mesoproterozoic quartz sandstone formed around 1.2 billion years ago developed two groups of vertical joints with good connectivity under the background of neotectonic movement. The flowing water cut down strongly along the joint intensive parts, forming a valley (a line of sky) with vertical cliffs on both sides, 20 m long, 1-3 m wide and 50 m deep. There is a pool at the bottom of the valley with a depth of about 4-5m. It is like a black dragon sitting here, which is called the black dragon pool. The pass on the pool is called the black dragon pass.

Pothole

(also known as wangmuchi): the pothole is a concave hole formed by the abrasion of riverbed with sand and gravel in the rapids. Due to the eddy current in the rapids, the gravel will drill the riverbed to form the pothole. The Queen Mother pool is a typical pot hole landscape.

Feilongtan

(also known as Wolong Lake) and Feilong waterfall: Feilong lake is about 25 meters in diameter and 10 meters deep. There is a 15 meter high flying dragon waterfall behind the pool, which is like a giant dragon inserted into the water.

Yinyang pool and wenggu

Urn is a kind of rice container in the north of China. It has a small mouth and a big stomach. Above the Yintan and Yangtan of Longtan canyon are two canyons shaped like urn, which are called "urn Valley". Wenggu is formed by the erosion of flowing water. The wenggu in Yangtan is the most typical, with a diameter of 20 m and a radian of 270 °. The wenggu in Yintan is cut through by running water to form a ZhangGu.

Yin Yang pool

By two pools together, like a card waist treasure gourd, water depth of about 12 meters. Because of the uneven sunlight in Gaoxia, the light and shade are different, so there are "Yangtan" and "Yintan".

Pearl Lake

There are three round pools connected together, which look like beads, so it is called string bead pool. Among the three pools, string bead pool is connected with streams, and there are many patterns on the clear river bed, which are as gorgeous as peach blossom, so it is also called "peach blossom linked pearl pool". Magic river erosion landform - Huxue Valley: since about 2.6 million years ago, under the influence of neotectonic movement, the crust has risen strongly in the area. In addition, there is abundant rainfall in the area, and surface runoff is developed. The turbulent water flow is controlled by joints and bedding planes, forming disturbing flow and spiral eddy current, driving sand and stone to drill and form a series of Huxue like vortices on the uneven river bed. The adjacent potholes continue to expand and connect with each other, forming the smooth and eroded landscape of pothole wall and pothole valley.

Niches

On both sides of Longtan gorge, there are red cliff cliffs with a height of tens of meters to more than 100 meters. The bottom of the cliffs is eroded by the current, forming a series of niches with small top and big belly. Due to the uplift of crustal movement, the niche was raised to the middle of the cliff.
