Yaojinshan is not only a thousand year old temple, but also a decision-making base for general Peng yingyu, the leader of the red scarf army uprising at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, to engage in anti yuan activities. According to historical records: at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Pingxiang monk Peng yingyu spread the doctrine of Maitreya in yaojinshan temple and other places, calling on the poor peasants to rise up against the rulers of the Yuan Dynasty. In 1338, Peng yingyu and his disciple Zhou ZIWANG gathered 5000 people to declare an uprising under a Luohan pine tree in yaojinshan temple. Zhou ZIWANG was killed, Peng yingyu fled to Huaixi to continue to preach secretly, and then contacted Xu Shouhui and other heroes to continue the uprising.
