Today's art museum explores the sustainable development of China's private art museums and tries to establish an art museum system with reasonable financing structure and complete system. Gradually form a sustainable and stable financing mechanism and academic system. The museum is the first private non enterprise public welfare Contemporary Art Museum in China.
As a private art museum built and operated in accordance with the International Art Museum standards, today's Art Museum has been committed to participating in and promoting the progress and development of Chinese contemporary art. With its modern vision, international platform and standardized operation, it strives to explore a road suitable for the survival and development of China's private art museum.
Venue system
Its style is avant-garde and outstanding. The combination of the legacy of the old industrial age and the contemporary concept makes it present a unique aesthetic character. The art gallery space designed by Wang Hui, a famous architect, makes it possible for contemporary art to present itself freely.
The formation and development of a stable academic system, organizational structure, management process and financing mechanism constitute the increasingly reasonable and complete operation system of today's Art Museum.
In 2004, Today Art Museum has formed an all-round development pattern of exhibition, Academy, art education, collection, identification of contemporary art, publication of books and magazines, today art net, publicity platform, information and picture center, electronic collection and inquiry of art materials, art salon and art bookstore.
Concept as
Promote the progress of Chinese contemporary art. Today is not only the present, but also the past and the future. Understand the art of today, achievement and commitment of art of today, share the art of today.
Today's art museum not only pays attention to Chinese contemporary art, contemporary art schools and their key figures, but also pays more attention to the cultivation of young artists. Through cross-border cultural and art exchanges, it promotes the positive interaction between domestic and foreign artists, art institutions and art activities, and seeks the maximum possibility of the development and evolution of contemporary art in the context of globalization. Strive to cross the boundaries between the public and the art museum, between art practice and exhibition space, between exhibition space and the audience, and between the audience and artists, so that "today's art" can be felt, known and accepted by "today".
Architectural design
The new design of today's Art Museum fully takes into account the artistic nature of the building and the organic combination of its functions. When designing the entrance, we refined and exaggerated the trapezoidal and metal fence elements that often appear in the original building. The trapezoidal metal frame structure, on the one hand, reflects the modern flavor of the art museum, on the other hand, conveys his interpretation and commemoration of the old boiler room building. The whole trapezoidal metal frame at the entrance of the art museum is a zigzag ramp. The first person who comes to the art museum can see the entrance from a distance, but he can't see the stairs. Only when he gets close can he find the way up. Walking on the ramp can give people a wonderful experience: from the perspective of art design, the audience needs a process of psychological preparation before they come to the art museum to appreciate the works of art. Visitors can see the entrance from a distance, but they can't see the stairs, so they are curious.
When people come near, they will find a ramp leading to the entrance. This design makes people get a wonderful experience of "hidden flowers". When the audience walks up the ramp, they will have a feeling of climbing, and the whole process of entering the art museum will produce a sense of ceremony. At the same time, the zigzag design enables the audience to observe the museum and the surrounding landscape from more angles. In this way, the design of the entrance allows the audience to start the journey of art experience before entering the art museum, and prepare for the appreciation of works of art psychologically. From the functional point of view, the ramp design is a barrier free design, which can facilitate more people to come to the art museum to enjoy art. Moreover, such design processing also makes it more convenient for the art museum to transport large-scale works, and can minimize the damage of works in the process of transportation.
As an art museum building, for the works of art displayed in its interior, there are only two functions: "concession" and "stimulation". The interior design of the art museum is all white, and the purpose is to highlight the works displayed inside as much as possible, so that the works can achieve the best display effect. But on the other hand, more and more contemporary works of art can not meet the display effect obtained by the background "concession". They need the interaction between the venue and the works, and achieve more full display effect through the reverse stimulation of the venue and space to the works. Therefore, the architecture of today's Art Museum has been endowed with great flexibility and freedom at the beginning of design: its internal display panels can be freely combined and matched, and the light rails can also be completely set up according to the requirements. Even the whole building wall of the art museum can be demolished and constructed when the works are needed, so that the works can be fully displayed and the audience can learn from different angles Appreciate the work from the angle of view. The flexibility of the museum provides the greatest possibility for the display of contemporary art works, and also makes the relationship between the museum building itself and its displayed works of art closer. Such a large degree of freedom and possibility, together with the first-class hardware and software facilities of the art museum, will attract more and more important international contemporary artists to hold exhibitions in China, thus further promoting the art exchange between China and the world and promoting the development of contemporary art.
