Hong Kong Science Museum

Hong Kong Science Museum is a good place to explore scientific knowledge. Hong Kong Science Museum

The Hong Kong Science Museum, which opened in 1992, is located in Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. It is three stories high and has a science fiction appearance. It is adjacent to the Hong Kong Museum of history. It has four floors and 18 exhibition areas, with about 500 exhibits and a wide range of subjects.

On December 7, 2018, "ingenuity - Watch treasure exhibition" and "silk road landscape map exhibition" will be officially displayed at the Hong Kong Science Museum. 120 mechanical clocks and watches collected by the Palace Museum and a full landscape map along the ancient Silk Road will appear at the exhibition, bringing Hong Kong people a journey of innovative cultural relics exhibition.

Collection

The exhibits are distributed in five main exhibition halls, namely exhibition introduction, science, life science, technology and children's world for children aged 3 to 7. Among them, 80% of the exhibits can be touched and operated by the audience. Therefore, visitors can experience the effects of science and technology on the society. Large scale exhibits include: a retired Cathay Pacific DC3 aircraft suspended from the ceiling; a 22 meter high energy shuttle (a machine showing potential energy kinetic energy conversion with a ball).

The permanent exhibition of the Science Museum has about 500 exhibits, among which the most eye-catching is the 22 meter high energy shuttle, which is the largest of its kind in the world. The exhibits are distributed in 18 exhibition areas, covering a wide range of subjects. About 70% of the exhibits can be operated by visitors, integrating participation in learning.

The Science Museum has different science exhibits from the ground floor to the third floor. The underground lobby is mainly used to show some popular technologies, such as optics. It is equipped with an optical workbench. Visitors can use mirrors, lenses and prisms to carry out simple optical experiments. On the first floor, there are computer-based exhibits, which introduce the structure and application of computers and artificial intelligence. Visitors can try a variety of multimedia computer software in the computer laboratory. It can also control the movement of the mouse by voice.

The exhibition hall on the second floor is mainly based on daily science and technology. You can learn to fly in the flight simulator and fly over Hong Kong. Acoustic Hall

The exhibition introduces the basic principles of acoustics and its interesting features. The styrofoam beads in the "standing wave" exhibit dance with the music due to the vibration of the air by the loudspeaker, showing the peaks of standing wave. When the frequency of the sound is just the same as the vibration frequency of the "dancing ring", it will produce resonance and make the ring jump. Mirror world

I believe that you will look in the mirror every day and tidy up your appearance, but it's not easy in "mirror world", because the images you see in the mirror may surprise you.

Most of the exhibits in the exhibition hall are composed of multiple flat mirrors. The original ordinary mirror, as long as through clever design and different combination, will produce a peculiar reflection effect.

The exhibition is divided into eight parts, which respectively introduce different topics of life science, including: "physical challenge", "health and medicine", "skin, bone and muscle", "viscera", "brain and sensation", "growth and reproduction", "plants and animals" and "cell and genetics".

Magnetoelectric corridor

Through a series of exquisitely designed interactive exhibits, this exhibition shows the various phenomena of magnetism and electricity, and explores the nature and basic principles of electricity and magnetism in a relaxed way. Children's world

Children's world is a good place for children to get in touch with science. You can use the "soap bubble" exhibits to create soap films or bubbles of different sizes, so as to find the characteristics of surface tension in colorful bubbles.
