brief introduction
Wanli Jiangdu county annals quoted song Baoyou annals as saying: "siwangting was in the south of Zhouzhi. During the reign of ningzong Jiading (1208-1224), it was specially granted to zhibaomoge, authorized to dispatch Yangzhou affairs, and was in charge of the construction of Cui Yuzhi, the governor of huaidong pacification." According to Qianlong Jiangdu county annals, it was built in 1559, the 38th year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty. It was repaired during the reign of Kangxi and Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. Originally named wenkuilou, later named kuixingge, it is a part of Jiangdu county school. The pavilion is of brick and wood structure, with three storeys on eight sides and a pointed tile roof. There are arches on all sides of the ground floor, which are connected with the cross street, so it is called "Guo Jieting". 2、 The third floor is surrounded by simple window bars and partitions. Climb up the stairs, push the window and look around. You can have a panoramic view of the city. There are eight flying horns on each floor of the pavilion eaves, and there are 24 flying horns on the third floor. Each flying horn has a wind chime, which sounds melodious.
Siwangting was originally named "Wenkui tower" and later "Kuixing Pavilion". Kuixing is the common name of Kuixing, which means "Kuixing is in charge of Wenchang". It used to be the auxiliary building of county Confucianism and a part of Jiangdu county school. In the 1950s, there was still a hall dedicated to Confucius in the county school. There are three stone archways in front of the county school gate. On the west side of Kuixing Pavilion, there are two stone archways at the boundary of the East and West courtyard walls of Xianxue. Taking the two memorial archways as the boundary, pedestrians pass under them, "civil servants get off the sedan chair, military officers get off the horse". "Kuixing Pavilion" is dedicated to the magic star God.
history
In February of the third year of Xianfeng (1853) of the Qing Dynasty, the Taiping army occupied Yangzhou. Generals Lin Fengxiang and Li Kaifang led the army to make a northern expedition. Zeng Lichang stayed in Yangzhou and "built a wooden pavilion to look out of the city", so it was called siwangting. The so-called "wooden frame" is to set up a wooden frame on the top floor of the pavilion to watch the movements of the Qing army. In case of enemy's situation, blow the horn on the pavilion as a signal; in case of fighting with the enemy, beat the drum on the pavilion to cheer. There is a folk song: "four look Pavilion, three-story Pavilion, let the horse's feet on the pavilion, the horse's feet come, blow horn, beat the Qing army back.". There are red headed soldiers in Yangzhou city. They are so scared that the Qing soldiers dare not come. " Siwangting is one of the revolutionary cultural relics in modern Chinese history. It was designated as a municipal cultural relics protection unit in 1962.
