Chaidan Town, a town directly under the central government of Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province, is managed by the great Chaidan administrative committee, with a total area of 18633 square kilometers and a population of 8728 (2017).
Historical evolution
Dachaidan city was established in 1960.
In 1964, it was reduced to Dachaidan town.
In 1992, it was upgraded to Dachaidan administrative committee. In the following year, Dachaidan administrative committee was divided into Dachaidan and Xitieshan towns and Yuka township.
In 2005, in the comprehensive reform pilot work of rural and pastoral areas in Haixi, the former Dachaidan town was merged with Yuka town to form a class of Township, Chaidan town.
