Xihuamen Street
Xihuamen street is a historical and cultural protection block in Beijing, which is mainly composed of traditional residential form. It is an important part of the traditional style of the old imperial city.
Xihuamen Street - a famous building, Beijing library was relocated to No.35 xihuamen street in 1953. The area of the library has been expanded, and Xidan Branch Library has been added in Maotou alley. In October 1956, under the care of Premier Zhou Enlai, the city library moved to the Imperial College of yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, and officially named the capital library. Mr. Guo Moruo personally wrote the name of the library. The Yuanqiao jiaoze in front of the Biyong Hall of the former Imperial College became an extracurricular College for ordinary people. The capital library has developed rapidly. In just seven or eight years, it has a collection of 992000 books, 122 staff, and more than 10000 square meters of library buildings, making it one of the largest public libraries in China. The Beijing Municipal Bureau of culture has also allocated funds for the construction of some district level branch libraries and reading rooms, which are uniformly guided by the capital library in business, playing a positive role in improving the cultural quality of the citizens and enriching their spare time life.
