The origin of Lantern sand

According to historical records, more than 600 years ago, Liu Ji, also known as Liu Bowen, the imperial censor Zhongcheng and Taishi Ling who participated in the Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang's imperial court, went south to investigate the West Bank of the Pearl River Estuary. At the foot of Denglong mountain to the east of the Pearl River Estuary, looking at the vast beaches and small island villages in the South China Sea, facing Baiteng mountain on the other side, he predicted that "lanterns are on fire and Baiteng becomes a city".

Due to the slow down of flow velocity and sediment deposition in the water at the downstream of the Pearl River, a large area of beach sand surface has been formed after thousands of years. People work on the sand surface when the tide rises and falls. Because the sand surface is close to denglongshan, it is called "denglongsha". After hundreds of years of continuous reclamation and widening, the industrious and brave ancestors of denglongsha gradually formed today's fertile and green land of fish and rice.

Denglongsha is a tourist attraction located in the northeast of Baijiao Town, Doumen District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province.

Located in the northeast of Baijiao Town, Doumen District, Zhuhai City, denglongsha is known as "water town". The village has crisscross rivers, alternating bridges and sinuses, and simple buildings.

According to the relevant person in charge of Baijiao Town, Doumen District, "denglongsha water town" is still in the planning stage, mainly taking Xiqi village and Denglong village as the prototype, which is divided into four areas: comprehensive functional area, water folk custom collecting area, ecological manor and Guoji fish pond experience area. The preliminary planning area is 4.1 square kilometers, which will be gradually expanded in the later stage. The planning will refer to the architectural style of Lingnan and repackage the two ancient villages. In addition to repairing the existing ancient buildings, some modern buildings will also be decorated to reproduce the prosperous Lingnan water town in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In addition, lotus will be planted all over the river course of denglongsha. In summer, ten thousand mu of lotus are blooming, which is expected to initially form the scene of "Ten Mile Lotus".
