Baoguo temple is located in Jingui mountain, Longmen Township, 20 kilometers northeast of Lezhi county, Sichuan Province, covering an area of more than 30000 square meters.

Baoguo temple, according to the records of Lezhi county annals, Baoguo temple was built in the second year of kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (582 AD), which has a history of more than 1400 years.

Brief introduction to the temple

Baoguo temple is located in Jingui mountain, Longmen Township, 20 kilometers northeast of Lezhi county, Sichuan Province, covering an area of more than 30000 square meters. According to the records of Lezhi county annals, Baoguo temple was built in the second year of kaihuang in Sui Dynasty（

582 AD), more than 1400 years ago. Through the vicissitudes of life, it has been prosperous for several times. Today, with the prosperity of the country, the prosperity of Buddhism, the hard work of two generations of abbots, and the wholehearted support of the broad masses of believers, the few thousand year old ancient temples in Shu have been rebuilt.

Landscape layout

Baoguo temple is surrounded by green hills, backed by mountains and water, with quiet environment, lush trees and jagged rocks. It has a thousand year old tree, a remnant monument in the Tang Dynasty and a sarcophagus in the song and Ming Dynasties. It integrates the hall, hall, pool, bridge, pavilion, cave and Cliff statues. It's a wonderful sight to see.

In the temple, more than 1000 cliff statues with different expressions and sizes were found embedded in the root of a thousand year old banyan tree.

The layout of Baoguo temple is elegant. There are five halls including Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, Guanyin hall, dizang hall and zushi hall. It is mainly dedicated to Maitreya Buddha, the four heavenly kings, Weituo Bodhisattva, Sakyamuni Buddha, pharmacist Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, dizang Bodhisattva, eighteen Arhats and other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, as well as nearly 60 patriarchs such as Sima, benkong and Liyu, with vivid and solemn statues. Among them, there are 23 jade Buddhas from Myanmar. Among them, the leading Buddha is as high as four meters and weighs more than ten tons. It is really a rare cultural relic. In domestic temples, there are a large number of Burmese jade Buddha statues, which are rare. The abbot of Zhongxing temple, a hundred year old monk, is a master of Zen.

Activities to promote law

In view of the fact that the pure land Dharma was more opportune at the end of the law period, the spread of Dharma in Chengdu in the 1940s, that is to say, the construction of "liyunian Buddhist hall" had a wide range. In addition, he used precepts to purify his body and mind, and compassion to help the world, cultivating good fortune. Cultivate fortune and wisdom, transform them by themselves, and set up a good way. The current abbot, master Longxuan, inherits the will of his mentor, master Changzhen, and holds the seventh Buddha festival every year.

Every year, the "Jingzong training class" is held to train four disciples of the whole country, specializing in Jingzong Classics (Master Chang Zhen's Anthology), and a number of talents are trained. In order to meet the demands of the residents, we continue to open the "Buddhist care home" and expand the "Buddhist care home for Liyu", so as to provide a place for the residents to spend their old age peacefully, recite Buddhism and help them to recite on their deathbed. At the same time, the temple has always insisted on carrying out activities of promoting Dharma and benefiting students in various forms.

For example, we held popular lectures on Buddhism, cooperated with brother monasteries to hold "Zen meditation camp", "seminar on Buddhism and life", and published books and periodicals on Buddhism. And long-term activities such as student assistance, poverty alleviation, disaster relief, release, road construction, etc. Baoguo temple has become a pure and pure Taoist temple with simple and good Taoist style, specializing in the Pure Land Sect. It is known as the "pure land in Sichuan" and a place for pilgrimage and sightseeing.

Traffic routes

First of all, you need to take transportation from you to Chengdu or Chongqing. Then transfer to the Lezhi Baoguo temple.

Route to Lezhi Baoguo Temple by bus:

A. Chengdu Wuguiqiao bus station departs at 11:00 a.m. every day and goes straight to Baoguo Temple (directly in front of the main hall of the temple; it takes about 4 hours to drive from Chengdu to Lezhi Baoguo Temple). This bus goes to Chengdu every day and returns to Baoguo temple. The time from Baoguo temple to Chengdu is 6:40 every morning.

Chengdu Jinsha bus station departs at 7:50 a.m. every day and goes straight to the Baoguo Temple (directly in front of the temple hall; it takes about 4 hours to drive from Chengdu to the Baoguo Temple). This bus goes to Baoguo temple and returns to Chengdu once a day. The time from Baoguo temple to Chengdu is 12:20 noon every day.

Notice to Visitors

Chengdu Wukuaishi bus station (near the North Railway Station) departs at 2:30 p.m. every day and goes directly to Lezhi Baoguo Temple (directly in front of the main hall of the temple; it takes about 4 hours from Chengdu to Lezhi Baoguo Temple). This bus goes to Chengdu every day and returns to Baoguo temple. The time from Baoguo temple to Chengdu is 8:30 every morning.

B. Chongqing Caiyuanba railway station and Jiefangbei station have buses to Lezhi county Chengdong station; after getting off at Lezhi county Chengdong station, take a 1-2 yuan tricycle to Lezhi bus North Station; there are buses to Lezhi Baoguo temple at Lezhi bus north station, every half an hour from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (it goes directly to the Mountain Gate behind the temple; it takes about 1 hour to drive from Lezhi county to Lezhi Baoguo Temple).

C. There are buses from the passenger transport center of Chengdu North railway station and Wuguiqiao bus station to the North Station of Lezhi county; there are buses from the north station to Baoguo temple, which runs every half an hour from 7 am to 6 pm (directly to the mountain gate behind the temple; it takes about 1 hour to drive from Lezhi county to Baoguo Temple).
