Changhua fan garage is located in the north of Changhua station, Changhua City, Taiwan. It belongs to Changhua locomotive depot. It was built in 1922 and is now open. The warehouse building takes the shunting turntable as the center and radiates 12 tracks to form a semicircle arc garage. It is one of the products left over from the Japanese rule of Taiwan. At present, it is the only preserved fan-shaped garage in Taiwan, and it is a historic site in Changhua County.

Changhua fan garage is located in the north of Changhua station, Changhua City, Changhua County, Taiwan. It belongs to Changhua locomotive depot. It was built in 1922 and is now open to the public. The warehouse building takes the shunting turntable as the center and radiates 12 tracks to form a semicircle arc garage. It is one of the products left over from the Japanese occupation of Taiwan.
The only fan-shaped garage preserved in Taiwan is a historic site in Changhua County.
structure
The garage building takes the shunting turntable as the center and disperses 99 degrees towards the garage, with a total of 12 tracks
. Because the steam locomotive can only drive forward, unlike the electric or diesel locomotive, the front and rear of the locomotive have cockpit for two-way driving, so the steam locomotive needs to turn on the turntable to turn the front of the locomotive

Preservation movement in the 1990s
In addition to Changhua's fan-shaped garages, there were originally five fan-shaped garages in Taiwan (Taipei, Hsinchu, Chiayi, Kaohsiung, Kaohsiung port). Because Taiwan Railway planned to build a central electric locomotive maintenance base, the last remaining garage had to be demolished. After local people and railway fans tried their best to preserve it, it was preserved. The electric locomotive maintenance base was moved to the south of Changhua station.
Current situation
The fan-shaped garage in Changhua locomotive depot is still in the process of vehicle maintenance, and the operation of vehicles entering the turntable is the living history left by the six fan-shaped garages. Three steam locomotives, CK101, CK124 and dt668, and a large steam crane, as well as electric locomotive E101, diesel electric locomotive R50 and freight car mobile dl1001, are stored in this garage. Steam crane, E101, R50 and dl1001 have been moved to other garages in Changhua locomotive depot for preservation, but cannot be seen in fan-shaped garages.
The second crisis of retention and Abolition
In the future, the elevated railway project will be carried out in the urban area of Changhua, but either scheme will affect the operation of the existing fan-shaped garage. Although the fan-shaped garage has become a historic site in Changhua City, the last dynamic fan-shaped garage will not be able to get in and out of the fan-shaped garage and become a static Museum if the elevated project is implemented. "Half line railway culture and History Studio" is striving to build a liaison line to maintain the normal operation of the fan-shaped garage.
sightseeing
You only need to register in the entrance guard room before you can visit it free of charge. More than 10 people can also apply for group tour, only 14 days in advance. Because the garage is still in service, the maintenance function is reserved. During the visit, we have the opportunity to witness the front of the car entering the warehouse for maintenance or leaving the warehouse for duty, and experience the actual operation mode of the fan-shaped garage at a close distance. In addition to the main body of the cultural relics in the warehouse and the random dynamic display, there are two robot sculptures in the factory, which are made from the waste parts of the engine of a diesel locomotive. There are also observation platforms, rows of cool chairs under trees, and open toilets. The surrounding infrastructure is sound. It is a popular holiday spot in Changhua city.
